I was a Chevy guy long before I got into Toyota; When I got my learner's permit, I wanted an S-10. An S-10 would make a good beater truck!

 

The damn thing is already starting to rust!

 

I was considering buying this if my truck somehow got totaled; Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have A/C...

I would have been more than pissed if that happened to me and my truck.
Wouldn't matter if the truck was 10 days or 10 years old.

I'm sure people heard me yelling 'fu(k me' from a mile away when I started my truck the night the cats were stolen.

You certainly have nothing to apologize for..

 

UPDATE: Last week, I found out that I'd read the estimate from USAA wrong; Turns out that the cost to repair my truck comes in at just under $3,000. The body shop has ordered a door from a totaled truck, and I'm hoping that the truck will be repaired before St. Patrick's Day!

February 5th, 2022: I visited Centralia for the first time a little over a month ago; Here's my truck in front of the Municipal Building!




NOTE: I did my research and realize that the "Graffiti Highway" has been covered with dirt to dissuade people from adding anything new to it...

I asked this question in the "Pennsylvania" thread, but I am worried that it might get passed over and buried; Has anybody been to the abandoned mining town of Centralia, Pennsylvania recently? It is definitely seems to still be open for exploration by the public, but what I would like to know is if it's passable for anything that isn't a 4x4...? If the road is impassable after a certain point, I would not mind parking the truck and walking. If this is the case, I would prefer to do it in the spring sometime so I don't have to worry about extreme cold or extreme heat.

Based on my research, it would definitely appear that it is still open for exploration by the public as long as the property lines of the few people who still live there are respected. Years ago, I read about explorers being confronted by a woman in a pickup claiming to be some kind of cop, but unlike Frick's Lock which can result in arrest for trespassing, Centralia still seems to be more or less open to the public as long as you don't do anything malicious. Anybody on here been to Centralia recently?

 

This is the infamous graffiti road that was covered over with dirt; I have no idea how old this satellite image is, but it is obviously pre-COVID because it is clearly not covered...

 

I encountered a snow squall just outside of Pottsville, but it had calmed down by the time I got into Pottsville; Again, the first round of pictures is from the February 2022 trip...

I thought that getting out of my truck with the Nikon would attract unwanted attention from the homeowner, so I only took pictures of the house with my phone; I believe this was originally an attached rowhome, not intended to be a detached single-family, so those brick columns are to add extra support...

Since Centralia no longer legally exists, the "CENTRALIA BOROUGH" and "COLUMBIA COUNTY" signage has been removed...

 

My first trip to Centralia was just over a week before my truck's passenger door got bashed in with a metal pipe, so that's why my truck is intact in the photos from the first trip...
