What is the difference if any between the 2.5 and 3? Thought there was just a 1,2,3 and 4

2.5 is a refresh of the 07-13 model. 3 is the new 22+.

HAHA Yes! And more so this:

Here Are The Toyota Tundra Years To Avoid - CoPilot (copilotsearch.com)

    "The 2018 Toyota Tundra
The 2018 Toyota Tundra was one of the first full-sized trucks to get a perfect score from consumer reports. Not only does it have a sharp look on the outside, but it is tough enough on the inside to tow and pull.

If you can get your hands on a 2018 Toyota Tundra with low mileage, you hit the jackpot. If not, you may still have some good years to use your truck, as it’s reliable and durable. "

There isn’t really a 2.5 gen. That’s just what people started calling the 2014-2021 trucks when they realized that calling them 3rd gen was incorrect. This happened when the ‘22 dropped and Toyota officially called it the 3rd gen.

2014 found the 2nd gen Tundra with a facelift and a deletion of multiple interior features and drivetrain options. Some small options were added over time as well (Toyota Safety Sense, CarPlay, etc). But underneath, it is the same truck with the same drivetrain; i.e., the same platform.

    1st gen (XK30) 00-06
    2nd gen (XK50) 07-21
    3rd gen (XK70) 22+

Haha. Wrong. This whole mess started when 2014 owners wanted to put a little distance between themselves and the earlier 2nd gen trucks. They thought a mild facelift made their trucks a new generation. But nope. Now we compromise. 2.5 gen just means post-facelift 2nd generation.

Do the 2.5s still have issues with the air injection pump? I thought that issue went away.
