I'm looking to spend no more than $600. I have an aftermarket amp, dual 10" subs but want a newer head unit focused on Android Auto.

Features I'm looking for, in order:
    1. Android Auto (does not have to be wireless)
    2. Responsive display - not laggy
    3. Not a Chinese brand
    4. Floating display, 9in+
    5. HD Radio
I don't really care about watching YouTube videos or storing music onboard.

    What do you recommend? Thanks!

Im sorry to say, but you will not find a main brand radio being floating, at $600. You’re looking at 1500$ just for the radio, like kenwood. Pioneer coming in at $900-1500. Same with alpine ilx 9” you may get lucky and find one around $850+. the accessories to have the radio installed and function correctly will run $500-$600.

Thanks for the pictures. Considering this head unit also for apple CarPlay. Any cons or annoyance about the unit?

The microphone that comes with it sucks. Aside from that, its awesome in every way. I don't understand why people pay $1,000 more for units that are very similiar (Kenwood etc.) Just my opinion.

@Boisefly you have me sold here, the setup looks great. Is the 10.1" worth it? the 9" is $40 less (pretty negligible) and they have all the same features just thinking it won't look as out of place.

What install package did you get w/ all the adapters etc? There are 4+ options. I want to ensure the basics like steering wheel controls work obviously, but that backup camera, ports, fade control too.

also, where is your mic placed? i think that makes a big difference too.

I know I said no Chinese units, but the options from Daisata are intriguing.

I got the package that was about $160. It makes sure everything works. I also paid $25 to have crutchfield pre-wire everything. For my 2014 Tundra, it only gave me two package options and the cheaper one didnt include backup camera function.

I placed the mic right next to the stock location.

As for size, I wouldn't like a smaller unit. I would actually go bigger if they offered it. Just my opinion

So im looking at the Sony XAV-AX8100, but the Boss has me interested. How is the audio quality?

I upgraded my JBL Tundra with a Kenwood and the JBL system to me sounded great afterwards. I know theres a lot to be desired, but it did sounds MUCH better. The issue with the kenwood is I can hardly see it so are looking for a floating display, and I see the Boss actually has a Ball mount which sounds pretty amazing to aim the radio at the driver like it should be.

@Boisefly were you able to keep all of your steering wheel controls with the Boss?

I had read that it doesn't fully work with the Boss. It would be great if I was wrong!

I have the Kenwood DMX-1037s. I wish AA would auto start, but other than that it's been pretty good.

Fine as far as I know.
I'm not on the phone much.
An occasional call from the wife or kids.
    They have never complained..

If Boss is Maestro compatible then it would work. But if Boss is not on the compatibility list. Well, you know.

Here’s the screenshot of the list of radio compatible with idatalink maestro. Boss is not on the list. So it may not have all features. The RR module can still be used but don’t know how it would function. 91D67506-0615-41AA-B2B5-5CB92A89B12E.jpg

Yeah I’ve seen that, if you go into all radios it has this head unit listed under boss. I’ll report back after I get it installed
