Hey folks, this is a tough one to search. I am in the middle of purchasing a new Tundra. I am trading my 2018 SR5 XP. I thoroughly researched the 2020 Limited, but can someone give me a rundown on the known differences from the 2019 Limited? Killer deals on 2019s right now, but not sure what changed for 2020. Also, since I'm familiar with my current truck, were there any changes to the drivetrain from 2018 to 2019? Thanks for any assistance!

Push button start, smart entry, and apple carplay / android auto are what come to mind atm. Basically tech stuff. Also, the 19/20 doesn't have a transmission cooler like the 2018 and before.

Thanks for the reply. After coming real close to buying a 2020 Limited, I ended up working a great deal on a 2019 Limited. Still haven't signed the paperwork yet - they have to get the vehicle from another dealership today. The obvious differences to me were the absence of Car Play (I really wanted that) and push button (no loss to me - I prefer a key). I just read about the transmission cooler on this forum. I doubt the salesman even knows that changed from my 2018. I was just curious if there may have been any other advances or deletions that I should consider.

Ever thought about putting heated leather katskins in your 18 to essentially make it a limited?

unless they are giving you a great deal on trade and on the new truck IMO a trade from 18 to 19 would actually be lower due to the trans cooler.

the only trade that would be worth it would be an 18-20 and even that is a hell of a premium for tech gadgets that can be mostly solved for $1500.

I would imagine you’re taking a beating on depreciation over two years.

The premium for buying a 2020 would have been very extreme. The 2019 - not so bad. I actually really like Katzkins and did give that a lot of thought. As unimportant as it may seem to some, I'm glad to be moving on from silver... no offense to anyone, but I've had silver Toyotas since 2005 and never should have bought the Tundra in silver because I knew I was bored with it. The situation was what it was and I've never really loved the truck because of it. This 2019 is Smoked Mesquite, which is my favorite production color. So to me, a change in color and upgrade in interior comfort is worth the hit.

Hardly enough to change the model year designation...’14-20 are almost identical. Little changes here and there as pointed out.

i had a silver 2018 TSS Tundra, loved it and and it actually got about 15 mpg, kept making mods and then had a chance to get a new 2020 TRD Pro in white during the pandemic. Glad I did as I kept trying to make my 2018 into a pro but the Pro had so much more to offer, like pushbutton start which I iove, no digging the keys out of my pocket. It also has apple car play and now a sunroof, oh and leather interior, leather steering wheel, color matched bumpers, plus the better shocks, dual exhaust, larger radio screen, Front skid plate and BBS wheels. On the down side it gets about 13 mpg and no uploadable image on radio screen at start up on negative. However resale a few months ago about 10K more then I paid it for it with 10k miles on it. Plus it is one of the last V-8's. No diffenrce in 2020 vs 2021 nothing changed. So for me win win. The limited would get you blind side mirrors and just about everything the Pro has except the Shocks, hood scoop and rims, plus it looks better then the 2022.
