Hi. Got tired of looking for a 2022...ordered a 2017 1794 Crewmax 4wd from Carvana...45k miles...supposed to show up Monday. Local mechanic that I trust is going to look it over for me. I also bought Carvana's extended warranty, just for the hell of it.

Just want ask you guys if there is anything specific I need to check on. I do know about the cam shift tower seal problem.

Figured this wouldn't hurt to ask...thanks in advance

    Tastefully enhanced...
An exact copy from another post "Valve gasket leaks, power steering weeps, rear differential weeping, shock oil on housing, battery date, brake pads & rotors, oil cap check for water froth or oil discoloration, transmission shifting in both TOW/HAUL and regular, stereo sound, stations check, CD player, etc...make sure AC and heater works well too...that's what I'd check.. I'd be surprised if you found more than x2..."

I got my truck from carvana and they were great to deal with. I drove it right to a shop after I picked it up and they couldn't find anything even remotely wrong with it. Plus they give you a week or something like that where you can return it for any reason if you did find something wrong.

One thing I would add to Hulksmurf's list of things to look for: evidence of crash damage

I bought mine from Carvana this past October, and my information, tag, etc got here very quick. I would buy from them again. They are in trouble now here in FL due to title and tag delays but I think it is a small percentage. But I guess to the affected customers it feels like a big deal. I know it would to me.

Also had really good experiences with Carvana — sold them two cars and bought one. Hate to hear the horror stories, but I’m 3-3 with them.

    Good luck!

I have heard a few horror stories about Carvana but for the amount of cars sold they are a small percentage. I suppose it is really no different that buying from a deal and maybe even had a few perks. You do not have to travel to the dealer and you can have your own mechanic look it over. Many people get excited at the dealer and do not look a vehicle over quite like they should. Many dealers also have as is and no return policies and you might have to travel a ways to return it if you do.

I would take a couple days off work and go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure it is what I expected it to be. Some of the horror stories are where they check engine light or error codes were turned off and didn't show up until later.

One other issue others have had is sagging leaf springs in the rear. If you are going to tow moderate to heavy loads you may want to eyeball what kind of curvature you got back there.

Add door locks, window switches, and cold start timing chain rattle!
Look in cabin air filter for rodents and under hood and engine cover.
    Rust underneath.

Basically check the entire truck end to end and top to bottom.

I sold a car to Carvana recently. They offered the most, by far. However, they also did not payoff the loan for 6 weeks. I kept making payments to preserve my credit and now waiting for a refund for the remaining balance.

Well, I got it yesterday afternoon. Seems fine. Mechanic checked over it this morning - no issues.

It was a pretty painless experience, and a LOT better than dealing with normal dealerships.

Hopefully it continues to run like this!

    Congrats!

Worst color, best trim level/interior :p

Now ditch that terrible dangerous cupholder cell phone mount before you have an accident!

I use this (and love it-best phone mount ever) and it's right in line of site while driving, barely covers the tiniest bit of the air vent when the phone is on it.

Toyota Tundra Center Dash Mount | ProClip USA

Then choose a regular clamp mount from Proclip also.

    Or

I use this from another mount I had.
Qi Car Vent Mount & Charger | MagicMount Pro Charge Vent (scosche.com)

But mine came with the suction base like this newer more powerful model does.
Wireless Car Charger Mount - MagicMount™ Pro Charge4 | Scosche

Not sure this new model has the right mounting holes on the back to work with the Proclip but they probably sell something that will work at either Scoshe or Proclip.

I believe I also got a swivel mount from ProClip to mount mine, but the Scoshe back had slots that mount matched up with.

Love mine, best phone holder/charger ever and no cables to plug and unplug every time I get in and out, just lots of charging
