I only know a little from previous experience.. its just my ocd i guess. I don't think you need to worry about the added weight and what tire load range you go with. Generally speaking a lighter load index with be equivalent to a softer ride. But anything in a C, D, E will handle any added weight just fine and should be sufficient for your Tundra. If you're towing heavy I think its better to go for the stronger ply tire.. so E for sure.. but I think your choice of the 295 in a Load range E should work out great.

Love the KO2s.. had them on my last 3 vehicles.. but wanted to mix it up for this truck. Excited to see how they look.. those things look massive! Are those for 18 inch or did you go 17s?

Thanks, and I do not know the width and/or offset. I looked online with zero luck. Also not a fan of all the poke.

Question for anyone with aftermarket wheels, did aftermarket tpms sensors work on the new wheels? Will the truck read it without having to take it in to get reprogrammed? Just wondering if I need to be an A-hole and ask discount tire to take the stock tpms sensors out of the oem wheel and put into the new ones... seems like a lot of work to just to get the oem sensors.

    Thanks

Discount put my tires on my new wheels. They took the sensors off the OEM wheels and put them on the new at no cost, just standard installation charges.

Got the wheels & tires installed. 295/70/18 Cooper Evo M/Ts on Battle Born Echos 18x9 @ +18mm offset. 2" Leveling Kit up front.

Overall, I'm good with the look. Even with the leveling kit, I might have considered going a tad bit smaller on the tire. I'm up in the air now that they're actually on the truck. Sometimes I look at it and think they look too big and other times I think they look just right. I had to remove the front mud flaps & do a very minor tuck on the front wheel well liner due to slight rubbing. Super easy & a 5 min mod with a 10mm wrench. No rubbing at all now.

I definitely feel the impact the tires with the gearing. It's noticeable but probably not enough to for me to regear. If I had gone any bigger it wouldn't be a question as to regear or not. If I had gone 35 x 12.50s....I would 100% look at regearing as soon as something became available.

What's odd is the speedo. I would love to hear anyone else's experience who has gone bigger tires and tracked their speed with an external GPS speedo app. At first, my speedo reads 70 mph but I'll actually be going ~75mph...as I expect. However, over the course of a few miles on the highway at constant speed the 2 speeds will come almost into alignment. Speedo will read 70 and GPS will fluctuate between 70 & 71mph. I don't know if it's my GPS app being inaccurate or the truck's computer is somehow actually adjusting. I doubt it, but it keeps happening after a few miles at a consistent speed.

Looks good! Did you happen to weigh that wheel/tire combo? I can’t imagine needing to do gears until 37’s or larger. They are probably heavier, and unsprung weight is a serious power robber.

I think it looks great. I am looking at a slightly smaller tire [285/65/18] mainly because it has no speedometer error [ , yet is a bit meatier in width [reminder that the tires we get in Canada are GARBAGE on this truck]. I like the poke setup you have plus that would be the next size up I would lean towards.

Truck turned out great! I dropped mine off this morning to have my Methods and some 285/75r18 Duratracs installed. Hopefully the rub isn't too bad until I get my Westcott kit. I'll post how my speedo reads against my gps app when I get it home.

What methods did you go with? And what Westcott kit?

I was strongly considering some 285/75/18, but think I've decided on 275/70/18.
I was worried about poke with +18 so planned on sticking with the stock wheels for now, but Kropp's poke above looks pretty damn good to me... So now, of course, I'm undecided ha!

Definitely interesting in seeing your progress from today with the Duratracs...

Shouldn’t be to much poke with a +18. Wescott designs did a video with the 3/1 and +18 methods on 35s. Looked really good. I have the exact setup on order. Just waiting for the kit to come in. 35x12.5x18 toyo AT3s with method 316s +18 and the 3/1 kit.

I went with the Method MR310 Con6 18x9 +18 wheels. The duratracs weren't my first choice but after buying the wheels and lift I didn't want to throw another $1,600 at new tires so I found the duratracs used local for $300. They'll get me by until I can fork out more money for some new tires. I'll keep the same size though.

    I think that's a solid move right there...can't beat $300 vs $1,600... Digging those method's, too.
Post those pics later, definitely wanna see the setup and poke. I'm thinking you'll be happy.

Will do! I had 295/70's and some +18 Method Roosts on my 21' Tundra and I thought it was perfect. Decided to skinny them up a smidge to gain a little more height on this one.

I think it looks spot on…the 92lbs is the sluggishness you feel so hopefully you have ‘before’ gas mileage so you can track what you are getting now.

You’re probably right on that. It’s 25-30lbs more than the OE combo so about 125-150lbs extra weight on the truck.

On a side note: I feel like the sluggishness is a more noticeable on this Tundra than other trucks I’ve owned. Not an apples to apples comparison, but I had a 2007 F150 with the 4.6L V8 a long time ago. I went up several sizes with a new wheel/tire combo and I don’t recall it being near as noticeable on that truck. That truck didn’t seem to skip a beat with the added weight. I don’t recall the OE combo but I went to some cheap 34’s on that truck.

I was averaging 18.8 mpgs (mixed) before the setup. I’ll keep an eye on it over the next few weeks to see how bad it drops. As long as I still get around (or better) mpg than the 2.5 GEN then I’m still coming out ahead.

That looks so dang good! Cooper's generally run large, so that's essentially a 35" tire.. but dang it looks awesome! Super excited now for my set up when it comes.

Curious, did the stock lug nuts work? Or did they have to supply spline style?

Why did you go with an MT? Was it for style or do you hit rough terrain often?

    Thanks!

I supplied my own spline-style lugs. Bought them off Amazon and just gave them to the installers. I was able to buy them cheaper than what Discount Tire would charge. They were totally cool with it.

Honestly, I went with the Evo M/Ts because they were lighter than a lot of other A/Ts in the same size. The Evo M/Ts are only 61 lbs each. The BFG A/T KO2s in the same size come in at 75 lbs. Most of the Nittos & Toyos that I looked at were mid to high 60's. I've run BFG A/Ts on just about every vehicle I've ever had before. This is my first true M/T tire.

lighter weight tires are hard to come by when you want 33"+

something tells me the heavier tires are going to hit this truck harder than in the past as far as acceleration and MPG

    Got mine back. Love it!!!

Method MR310 Con6 wheels 18x9 +18 wheels with 285/75r18 Wrangler Duratrac tires. No lift what so ever right now. I have the Westcott kit on order.

Very little poke with the 285’s.

Yeah I feel the same with this truck vs my 2.5 gen also (3/2 lift on 295/70/18 Method 304s)

…as long as I beat that mpg which was 10-12 on its best days I am a happy camper.

Nice…can’t wait to see how these look when it’s all put together.

Did you narrow down your tire choices as yet?

BTW…envious of all that garage space…even with the Tundra in there it still looks large

Thanks! Yea the garage sold the house. That was my 1 thing on my list to not compromise on is the garage space. Not yet on tires.. Definitely like the more narrow tire idea now. 295/70 or even this 285/75 that RSG did looks solid.
