What do you need Techstream for?

I'm interested in learning more and more about my Tundra since it seems like it will last a lifetime. I'm tech savvy but mainly in diesels. This tundra is a new breed for me but I love it. I wanted to know what you guys use Techstream for and if its worth me looking into? I currently have a SnapOn SolusUltra and its been capable of doing what I need it to do besides change some features and parameters. Will Techstream be a good addition or waste of time?

Me personally with my level of expertise, I wouldn't need one. Not gonna mess around with ECU nor diagnose my car. Way above my pay grade . . .

Ive worked for a Freightliner dealership so I'm use to reprogramming ECU's and rebuilding $40k engines. Even when it was waaaaay above my pay grade...worst case scenario I fry an ECM and find another at a wrecking yard and try again ;)

    Turn on/off sensors
    Turn on/off alarm
I think you can also customize a few things such as light timing, horn etc.

    Sensors?
Like bypass an O2 sensor or disable air bags and features?

I'm seeing its more interior based than engine...correct?

What all can you do with your Snap On that's more than diagnostics? I've been playing around with mine but mainly its just diag and I once relearned my transmission resulting in it turning my truck into a throttle hungry demon

If you wanting to play with throttle and crap like that only the techstream should do it.. for me if I was doing that I would unichip or stand alone the ECM.

You can't bypass an O2 sensor, but I believe you can read and record it's data stream. You can't disable the air bags either, with some exceptions (some of the Second Generation Tundras have a button that will disable some of the air bags for off-roading).

You can change things like how your key fob locks/unlocks, lock/unlock beep, your recirculate button defroster operation depending on trim level. You can turn off the seat belt chime (as mentioned), test the gauges, change the timing for various things (re-lock, headlamps). There is a section where you can monitor the outputs of probably every sensor (MAF, ABS, Speed, Trans gear, yaw, etc.).

There's likely some overlap with the gear you already have, but maybe some things that are exclusive to TechStream.

That's exactly what I needed to know. I plan on waiting till this engine blows or I just get bored enough to do it, but I have a cummins engine that's just begging me to put in this truck. I'd like to make everything work as much as possible with the swap so tools like TechStream might not be a good investment. Although I saw one for $25 on Amazon...I'm a little sketchy about that though

That sounds very cool, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of fore/aft room in that engine bay....

I got a friend that owns a heat transfer shop so building a custom air cooler will be needed

I was thinking more in terms of how long the (diesel) engine is compared to the Toyota engine. There isn't a lot of room to begin with.

Ohh I thought you were talking about the Aftercooler.
Yea I've thought about that but if my measurments are correct, it will fit with fan out the way.
If by any chance I find a donor CrewCab tundra I'd rather butcher it than my white lightning and I know I will be taking lots of pictures and videos of the process.
