So as I’ve mentioned I’m turned off to the 22 Tundra for various reasons and decided to try something different this time around. The 09 Crewmax was not super high mileage but she was due a few grand in work over the next year. Water pump’s probably been leaking for awhile. Plugs, tires, brakes. Did not want to put more money into her as she’s a basic SR5 and I’ve been ready for more creature comforts. So I’d have spent all that money that could have gone to something new and traded next year anyway.

I originally had a middle Lariat package 5.0 F series on order, then cancelled when this baby showed up on a lot with most of the features from the Lariat I wanted. I was able to work a not too horrible for these times deal as it’s a ‘21 built just a bit before the model year change over in Nov that took awhile to make its way to a dealer likely due to driver shortages.

2021 F series Screw Xlt power boost in Rapid read, 6.5 food bed, panoramic moonroof.

Flame away but hopefully nobody minds if I continue to hang out.

Congrats on the new truck! I’m not completely sold on the 22’ Tundra myself. Good luck with it and don’t be a stranger!

QC issues coming up make me wonder what else will pop up in the next couple years. May take 2-3 model years to find everything. The 5.7 and 6 speed were so proven it’s really a shame they couldn’t just milk better power and mpg out of that powertrain. It really earned my trust these last 13 years.

Tundra purchase system made it too hard for me to maximize what I wanted in my price range without it being crowded out by unnecessary fluff. Most interior dimensions seem to have shrunk this year on the Tundra. Loss of the reclining/sliding rear seat a few years ago was one thing that made the Tundra stand out far less for me compared to other Crew Cab half tons than it did when I first got it. Was also back and fourth about the styling.

And The 7.2 kw generator was also a big thing that really steered me towards the Ford. That alone could run a few essential things in a short power outtage and if I wanted a bit more headroom for a longer outage I’d probably just need to spend a few hundred more on another small Home Depot generator to run next to the truck.

Congrats. I sold my 2021 Tundra (for way more than I paid for it ;)) and bought a 2021 F-250 to tow my trailer, nothing wrong with the Tundra but needed an HD truck.
I really like the F-250, just too many differences to even try to compare to the Tundra…. except I get better MPGs with the 6.2L than I did with the Tundra, and my F-250 is 1,000 lbs heavier too.

    Go figure:monocle:

I get it. It’s nice to have other options, we all have to find what works best for us. Sounds like you found the one!

Our trucks wouldn't be as valuable if folks weren't always being disappointed by the other brands, so I'm happy for you! At least it isn't a GMC.

Man I've been a life long Ford fan right up until my first Tundra but the new half tons are

Congrats on finding what you want though!

I have a 2021 Tundra that I hope to keep for a long time, but I could potentially see myself going with another brand if I were to trade now.
