My front drivers side catalytic converter
has gone bad and is rattling a lot so I want to get rid of the first 2 set of cats but still leave the rear. What will I have to do if I cut off the first set with the 02 sensors as I have seen a bunch of other people talking about needing foulers and other things.can someone please help me as I need to get rid of these cats properly where my truck doesn’t run different or go into limp mode.

I also really don’t want to spend the money on new cats when I don’t want them anyway as I would like my truck to sound meaner lol

Yea I just responded in that thread a little bit ago and I don’t really need to worry about emmisions and the cat is making such a bad noise it just needs to go . I just want to know if I can do it without messing up the air/fuel ratio or CEL or anything of that nature

I’ve also had a cel po420 for the cats about a month ago but went away and hasn’t came back since but I’m sure that because my drivers side one is completely done for

Well isn't the output from the O2s fed to the ecu to calculate the afr in real time?

Yes but I’m trying to see if removing the cat will change that I don’t really see why it would but I guess you never know I guess. And my front cat is most likely in pieces in the inside so if the air fuel system is running fine now shouldn’t it do the same with a normal pipe without chunks of honeycomb flying around everywhere

The front cats have the O2 Sensor. If you remove it will throw a CEL.
You can use an O2 simulator or get a tune that removes the CEL so you don't see it.
It should not make your truck run limp mode. But definitely double check before hacking it off.
You can remove the rear cats without any issues.

Okay thanks for the info, with the o2 simulator do you have a brand that you would recommend? if I don’t care to cut off the rear ones and I have a bad front one could I use one of my back ones to replace it rather than buying a new one or are they not interchangeable ?

And with the simulators would I be messing with the 02 sensor right by the pipe or in the engine?

I am unsure which simulator works best. I would just check Amazon and start reading reviews etc.
The front cats have a place where the O2 sensor screws in and the rears do not have that.
Maybe an exhaust shop can modify the rear for the O2 sensor?

The dirty deeds guy told me “If your cat is completely blown then confirm rear cats are ok. If they are just move them forward and out the rear o2 in front of them. “ this should work correct ?

Would I be able to switch them like he said or since the front 02 sensors are attached would it mess it up?

I would listen to Keith. He is the expert when it comes to our exhaust system.

Technically speaking, regardless of county emissions testing or not, federally it's illegal to remove a federally regulated/installed device.

Just as a DPF delete - regardless of where, if you bought a vehicle that's federally regulated with federally regulated devices, they need to remain on the vehicle.

Unless, you remove and then get the mfg to recertify it without said device.

Where I live most people I know have no cats at all and have been fine and most trucks only have 2 normally so if I got a high flow cat I think I’d be good on all the emissions and who wants to have to have all that extra stuff on there just to comply with emissions laws . And if I wanted to sc or do headers I’m pretty sure I’d be smart to not have 4 cats on there also
