Well, I tentatively decided on the kayak that I'm going to get. Still time for research plus I'm going to check local and semi-local on the crazy off chance of something directly comparable being fairly priced and in stock. (Not going to hold my breath on that though.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WQ5NH2Q/?coliid=I1NWTTN5AR5M6L&colid=QLWKXVPKN54I&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Did you compare to Wilderness Systems kayaks? Only ask because when I researched people seemed to be loving the seats in them. Any kayak will be a fun time though.

They look like fantastic kayaks but man the price is high. The lowest priced fishing kayak they sell is $300 more than the one I linked. That being said I really appreciate you bringing them to my attention and I will research that one and see if it's $300 better or not.

Obviously flooding is never a good thing but I would be a liar if I didn't admit kayaking around the city sounds interesting. Also, had this and absolutely love it

Ok it's definitely $300 better, but it weighs 95lb!Screenshot_2022-01-28-09-28-19-93_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

Which one? The Tarpon 120 is pretty close to the one that you linked, isn't it?

The recon 120 is the only one in my price range and it's 30 more pounds than the one I linked. 30 lb in some circumstances isn't that much but with a kayak is quite a bit unfortunately.

My parents bought 12' kayaks because that was the biggest that would fit in their storage at the lake. My dad sometimes regrets not getting 14 footers, though. That's the extent of assistance I can provide.

I almost asked Mr @TRDFerguson if he knew what a kayak was but then I remembered he probably saw one in Illinois

I have decided 12 ft will probably be the best length for me because I find myself on really small lakes and narrow rivers more often than cruising open water but I totally see where someone on a bigger lake would want a longer one.

I have a Pescador Pro that I used for lakes here in CO. It’s a nice boat and pretty comfy with the lawn chair style seat. It was easy enough to set up with a depth/fish finder, rod holders, and other farkles.

I got a screaming deal through Sierra Trading Post years ago on it. This model has been out for a while so there are deals out there on the same boat with last year’s colors if you look around. Good luck with it.

Hey! I appreciate your input and I'm glad to hear you like it. I'll be searching for a deal but I'd be a liar if I said I was confident I'll find one considering how the world is right now.

    Understood.

The “grasshopper” color is $879 ($100 less) than the other color. 1 left…

Unfortunately with shipping it's actually more expensive than Amazon but thank you very much for posting the link.

People are neither stupid nor is it their own fault for having put a reservation on a vehicle - - we should all be able to expect honest business, and Rivian should be the one taking the hit here. But I'd neither pay to reserve a vehicle, nor pay a dealer above sticker for one. I'm guessing there are a number of those folks who put the reservation on them intending to flip them, in which case they'll likely still recover any additional costs they have to pay. But some 25 years old neophyte with a fresh-out-of-college job and no clue about the bullshit society can sling at you is going to learn a hard, unfortunate lesson. I looked on their website, and preorders can be cancelled; but I don't know if it's a 100% refund or how long one might have to wait on it. Sad.

Agreed. I also think price adjustments are to be expected given the new tech, but 20% is completely nuts. I don’t care about all the unprecedented market conditions.

In other news, the driveway camera caught a fattie last night. 6E1F50B7-90A3-45BC-8097-C84922BC521F.jpg
