Is the color of the honeycomb the only diff between SR5 and sport grilles?

I am looking at this link on sparks site it says this grille fits my 2019 SR5 but it is $828

    https://www.sparksparts.com/oem-parts/toyota-2018-sr-grille-531010c010

If I go this this link the grille is $575 but it says the grille doesn't fit my 2019 SR5

    https://www.sparksparts.com/p-2018-platinum-tundra-grille-531010c040

I plant to just swap out the center honeycomb with my current grill so as to keep my current emblem and sensor. Is there a difference in the cheaper platinum one other than price and color of the honeycomb? They look the same and I think the only difference is that my VIN matches the OEM of the SR5 grille in the first link?

This is the grille that comes on the 2018 SR Edition Tundras. It has an unpainted surround and a honeycomb style insert. The honeycomb insert is black unlike the Platinum style grille (53101-0C040) which has a gloss gray honeycomb insert and the TRD Sport (53101-0C030) which has a flat gray honeycomb insert.

The cheaper one will fit. Check this link here.

    Go the the first page!

It will give you great info and another source for buying. The Toyota site might say they won't fit, but I believe it's from 2007 up and the bulge and surrounds are the same, just all the center grille pieces that differ. If you are going to swap your current center out, you should be good to go with the cheaper set.

20220228_124309.jpgI bought the surround and grill for the 14 - 17 pro. Then switched the insert to my Limited.

I want to do this on my 2018 Limited. Any issues getting the Limited insert to fit?

No issues at all. You have to be careful getting the insert out of the new surround. You don't want to break any of the little tabs. But with the chrome surround that I took off I just broke all of the tabs then burned it, lol.

I did the same with my Limited, except I kept the look of the 14 -17 Pro and bought an AJT relocation bracket. I just realized I haven't taken a picture of the finished job! I will have to update what I have done! So much since the first posting! Most of my chrome has finally been eradicated!
