Have you checked your 22 tundra rear door window seals? A friend of mine told me about a post he keeps seeing talking about the window seals on the back doors being too short and causing water into the doors.
Wondering if it's suppose to be like that seeing how both sides are the same size gap. Check yours and post a pic!IMG_4052.jpg

No seal is perfect and all windows allow water to get into the door frame, that's why they have a drain hole at the bottom. This does look like poor quality control from the San Antonio factory though, which is unexpected from Toyota. You can try getting your dealer to fix it, or try to fix it yourself. This may be a source of the rear passenger window making noise at highway speeds some buyers have noticed.

Seems all the tundras have that gap and most have poor window seal fitment. My dealer is waiting on new window seals to repair mine. My Tacoma has a little piece that fills that gap.. I wonder why they wouldn’t want the gap filled

Yea I started checking it today and all the window seals are very poor quality. Gonna speak with the dealer because a brand new truck should not have window seals popping out at 400 miles.

These seals are complete crap. Three out of four of mine are being replaced tomorrow. The service department here has been great helping me repair all my issues but it is getting pretty old.IMG_20220227_202751.jpg IMG_20220121_094542.jpg

Had the same thing happen to mine on the driver side rear window. Lady at the service dept just hooked it right back in and it’s been in there since. Like she’s done it before

I hope that works but I would stay on them about it if not. I attempted to do that but it kept popping back out. I feel these trucks are too expensive for that. This will be my fourth time to take the truck in for repairs in the past 2 months. I also had issue with tailgate not opening using fob, hung up due to misaligned striker, and had to replace side mirror. Again, my service department in this town is fantastic. I'm lucky to have that going for me at least.

I would be curious to see if the new seals are of better quality or the same. Keep us updated!

Don't know if I missed it here, but read on a FB posting that Platinum seals are different and aren't a problem? Not sure if that is accurate info...more anecdotal.

I noticed my driver door window seal is like that too. I just never bother with it cause doesn’t cause any problems. Will definitely ask about it tomorrow if they willing to replace it. Passenger side is little flatter. Taking mine back to dealer cause the wiper arm was misaligned from factory and the driver side wiper blade doesn’t clear the windshield and chatters.

Mine has the same issue. I love the truck but the quality control / fit and finish is unacceptable for Toyota standards. I will never buy a new first year gen from Toyota again. Period. I was spoiled by the quality of my Japanese built 4Runner and regret getting the new Tundra. You can really see the difference in quality with US made vs Japanese. I went from a 2015 Tacoma which had fit/finish issues (despite last year of that gen) to the 4Runner which has been rock solid and not one issue to the Tundra. I believe the Tundra was rushed through the testing/manufacturing process and should have been pushed out by at least 6 months.

1 month old truck.... Here is my list for my service visit once I get word that there is a new software update available:

    - External and internal door seals are terrible. I have the gaps as posted here and they are coming loose.
    - Windshield seals and plastic surround fit and finish will need to be addressed. Excessive creaking and snapping due to windshield installation and seals.
    - Hood and tailgate are not centered properly with noticeable differences in gaps on each side. 2 of my doors also need adjustment - bowed out at top causing poor seals.
    - Composite bed is not square / warped at front by cab. Bowed in between 1/2 to 3/4" int he center. Looks like a molding issue.
    - Fuel gauge stuck on full needing the negative battery cable reset method a couple of times.
    - Electrical burning smell in cab at 2 weeks and 1 speaker went out.
    - Screen freezing during operation. Only way to reset is to pull over and shut off truck and restart.
    - Bluetooth / Android auto connectivity - inconsistent and requires truck shut down/restart to address.

Once the update is out I will bring it in. I chose Toyota so I wouldn't be inconvenienced by BS service trips. Buyers remorse is growing and hope that they can make this right.

I feel bad for the 22 Tundra owners that are finding problems. The price of these trucks are a bunch. Lately I am beginning to think that Toyota’s business model has lost something in the trip from overseas!!:)??? Best of luck to all the 22 Tundra owners and hoping the issues get resolved.

O man, Im sorry to hear this, that really sucks. first year issues are expected but that just seems like sloppy building to me rather than unexpected part failures

This is what I get for talking nice about the service department. Apparently, only one of the three seals was in today. The quality of the seal still appears to be pretty awful. Also, they reattached the portion of the plastic door panel they removed incorrectly. The saga continues. IMG_20220228_145219.jpg IMG_20220228_145223.jpg IMG_20220228_145459.jpg
Update: I just called and they were, again, very apologetic and plan to check into it when I bring it back for other seals

I picked my truck up today. I too have problems with both rear window seals. The passenger side won't even snap down on the end, just kinda hangs out! They will be replacing both...and I'm not the first they say. And this is after it spent almost 5 weeks in the shop for AC problems! You are correct, quality control is non-existent.

I too have the same issue. I bought my vehicle from a dealer about an hour away. I have another dealer about 15 min away from my house. Would I have issues taking this problem to the closest dealer?

You might not get as great service if they want to be jerks, but otherwise, they have to fix your issues nonetheless.

Yeah it seems like everyone has the issue with the seals. I'm going to give it about about 6 months because it seems like the people that have had theirs replaced got the same results.

I had mine replaced yesterday, same shitty seals. Now I have wind noise I didn’t have before. But nothing poking out I guess..

I may wait a little bit as well. I currently have no wind noise. Seems like they need to come up with a better solution rather than just replacing with the same old seals

Man that sucks, but that's what I've been hearing from everyone that has had it replaced. Maybe in a few months they'll catch on. It's annoying to me, but I can live with it for awhile. I have 3yrs to get it replaced haha hopefully they have their shit together by then.

    - Because you have a short and the speaker burned out, I would assume you still have the short and it's affecting your infotainment center, causing the system to crash and more. I would get that addressed as soon as possible and make sure they check all the wiring harnesses for shorts before it does any other permanent damage.

    - I wouldn't advise you keep shorting out the battery leads together to drain any current stored in caps as the many computers in these vehicles are very sensitive to voltage spikes. I would put a resistive load like a dc bulb or let it sit disconnected for 15mins. The fuel gauge reading incorrectly may be related to the wiring short in your vehicle.

    - The cosmetic defects you mentioned, sound like it was built on a Friday or an employee on the way out. The driver door seal looks like it was stretched too much in the middle and the excess is bunched up at the end in the front. You can try to massage it back up towards the middle unless it's glued in place, which will require a service trip.

I agree with you about some teething issues with this. Blame it on the redesign, covid, or whatever. I love my truck but...

The person who put it together installed an auto-dimming mirror on the driver's side and a non auto-dimming on the passenger side...

SR5s don't even have the option for auto-dimming mirrors and it drives me nuts that I'll have a dim mirror and a bright one. Headed to the dealer tomorrow to get them to order me the proper mirror. Must've been built on a Friday or something... geez.

Do love the truck though, very happy so far!

My side mirrors like this too. Passenger side is non dimming. Only driver side. You can see the outline on driver side but not on passenger side. This is on a SR5 TRD sport premium.

Interesting... when was your build date? This does annoy me and I don't think it's intentional... because there is no mention of the SR5s having the option of auto dimming rear view mirrors and to have only one on the driver's side is stupid, no?
