Here we go! In my 37 years of driving I’ve owned 17 trucks. I have done almost ever mod imaginable in these years. 85% of them have been for convenience or atheistic. I 100% believe this tool is a must have if you use the bed of your truck. I ordered mine from Sparks, downloaded the instructions from their site. Install was a total of 2hrs. The bumper caps are held down with plastic tabs that have to be compressed to remove, they WILL break if you force them, trust me. You must go slow, they will come out. Do NOT use a flipping screwdriver on the top caps, use a plastic trim tool, it just makes sense. The second problem I had was removing the factory bracket, it just kicked my ass. Once it was out, everything went together as described with no problems. Torque to instructed specs and boom, you’re done.
If you think side steps are useful, this thing will change your life.

Its the next mod on the list. I will definitely be using the cut the bracket method instead of trying to replace it.

I agree, I love the bed step on mine. I thought I would miss the pull out step with the flip up handle on my old F-150, but I don’t at all. And the bed step is so much simpler to operate. You can kick it down and back up with one free foot. Highly recommended!

I thought about but decided to do it right. Labor is free and it’s worth my time to use all of the parts included with something. The bracket is specifically made for the step, cutting metal weakens it and I’m not a fan of that.

Sorry. 2021 Limited Crew. I will add, the directions told me to disconnect the license plate light and trailer connectors. This must be a step for older models as it had nothing to do with my install other than a bloodied knuckle.

Wife got me one for my anniversary. Are there any shortcuts to installing the step that bypass taking OEM brackets and stuff off for a proper mount? I see the photos but a video would be better. I remember seeing something on You Tube but can't find the link.

If you have the time, if you are willing to put in the labor, follow the directions and do it right. It’s not a physically demanding job but it does take patience and a bunch of moving around. I followed everything, I’m sure you can hack it up and make it easier, just not how I do things personally. Removing the existing bracket is truly the only butt-scratching part. I mean I layed on my creeper scratching my butt for 15 minutes figuring it out..

Well I put in the Toyota/AMP Bedstep today. Did it exactly as the directions stated and replacing the inside bracket was a pain in the A$$. Thought about cutting the old one but the newer design just looks cleaner. Only took me about 6-8 months after ordering and losing the box! LOL
Happy with the results and it does what it is supposed to do.
