I haven't seen an estimate of repairs - but in text -

    Reseal timing Cover
    Replace valve cover gaskets
    Engine Drive Belt
    Sparkplugs.

I have yet to work on a Gen 2, but this seems like a gasket / maintenance list.

It's an '08 so maybe it was actually the timing belt had cracks in it? I guess it could be the serpentine/drive belt that has cracks, it'd be readily visible.

$2k sounds about right for fuel pump if he went to the stealership.

I've only been texting him, I'm not sure if he has a written invoice estimate. But I told him to specifically ask about a cam tower leak. After reading most of that cam tower thread, It looks like a real bitch to fix. $$$ But, a lot of people feel if you aren't smelling burning oil or seeing it on the ground and are out of warranty, don't worry about it. I hope I can help him out.

    Carry on with FGT awesomeness.

UPS has been in the delivery business since 1907
DHL has been in the delivery business since 1969
USPS has been in the delivery business since 1971
FedEx has been in the delivery business since 1973
Amazon has been in the delivery business since 2007, and somehow has much greater estimates on the date of delivery than anybody else. Why is that?

I used to ship DHL exclusively until they stopped offering domestic-to-domestic service. They were the most reliable and careful of the bunch.

But best guess? scAmazon beats the hell out of everyone because they very granularly control every facet of their logistics and analytics. They pore over every bit of it with fine-tooth comb to see where things are working and aren't, improving what doesn't work and amplifying what does.

But they also have all the in-house computing and technology resources to be able to host and manage all of that with little to no cost, which gives them a huge competitive edge in today's world. I'm assuming UPS and FedEx probably use AWS services to manage their resources, which is likely a multi-7-figure annual bill for them, while scAmazon is both using their own data services while reselling to the others.

Anyone these days with a technology business model more than 2 decades old is ancient history.

I will say, though. scAmazon is still having issues with their in-house end-to-end delivery services. Anything with a tracking number which starts "TB". 20-30% of those packages are less reliable than FedEx home. I had to cancel several of those deliveries in 2021 because they were 1-2 days late (or more). Unfortunate.

Fuck Bezos though. We need to do a better job buying stuff from other companies. There won't be anyone left and that ultimately won't be good for us.

Somebody had a bad day. This was here when I went to work this morning. Rain turned to freezing rain overnight.

He forgot to keep the wheely side down.

Yeah, fuck Bezos. Just don't take away my Amazon Visa (5% back), Prime membership, fast little delivery people or subscriptions, or that overnight supermarket thing. :)

I've been finding myself ordering less and less from Amazon as each year goes on. This was not on purpose either. I checked my order history by year and I only made 8 orders in 2021. I honestly just don't find anything on there that I need anymore. Amazon is good for small knick knack items but when it comes to big purchases I still go through other retailers. The problem with Amazon is that they have poor QC from their vendors. I've received a few things in the past that were clearly counterfeit even though it was "shipped and sold directly by Amazon".

I think I've come to appreciate more in store experiences for my purchases more recently. I cancelled my Amazon Prime membership this year since the price went up to $149 and I don't order enough from Amazon to justify renewing my sub. Their streaming services are not strong enough for me to keep it around either. Plus now that Bezos has become a huge D-bag and I realized how big of monopoly they became along with stories of horrible work conditions I'm making more of a conscious effort not to support Amazon. TBH, I don't miss it all that much and didn't realize how little I ordered from them until I sat down and analyzed my expenses.

Well, I'd hoped to get time to install new aprons in the front wheel wells today, but I someone somewhere messed up and labeled one of the parts wrong - same part bagged with diff't P/N. Looked online to confirm it wasn't my mistake.

But last night, about 30 minutes after the box of parts arrived, damn microwave committed harikari of sorts, stabbing itself with electricity. So now I'm off to try and find a built-in microwave and trim kit that'll fit in my cabinets. Normally fix all my own appliances, at 15yo, not willing to on this.

Maybe next weekend I'll be able to get the aprons and VC re-gasketed?

Oh - but that said, goodies did arrive last night, though I'm having to reach out for a return/replace on the mislabeled part.

Offroad’s have progressive springs. So pretty different from yours. You’d have the ones I had on my truck

After looking at calcs and comps, I think @Casper421 is right about the 275/70/17 fitting on the 4R. My wider wheel and 0 offset will be the determining factor, so going to slap the fronts on tomorrow and test them. I hope it works, because I found a supplier with a screaming deal on some Method upgrades for me.
