You mean like the tundra and Tacoma respectively??

I seriously doubt we're going to get a diesel tundra or anything similar anytime soon (if ever), and lighter trucks are almost nonexistent aside from the older toyota, Isuzu and occasional S10....doubt they'd bring it back since the Tacoma fills that gap well.

They had a T 100 that didn't sell very well so they discontinued it.

I thought that was just the precursor to the 1st gen tundra?

Yep. My point was that it was midsized and didn't sell well so they moved on to something else. I don't think another size truck would sell. Like you said the Tacoma and Tundra have it covered.

For me, it does seem like the pro should come with a rear locker.

Yeah it's a beast alright! It's actually a 3/4 Ton with a diesel built by Essentially Offroad in Murfreesboro, TN.

It's simple, resale and quality. I've owned 4 Tacomas, 4 Tundra's, 1 4 Runner, 3 Highlander's, 2 Corolla's and not a single issue with any of them. My whole point is Toyota has essentially not changed the Tundra since 2007 (10 years ago). A new and improved model is long overdue.

Not really like a Tacoma, more like a more fuel efficient Tundra (with a V6 option) that maintains the current 9.5" semi-float rear axle (used in the 4.6L trucks) and light springs and a heavier weight rated Tundra with: a higher output alternator, more robust steering, a full-floating rear end, bigger axles, stronger frame, and higher spring rates. I have little desire to drive a diesel pickup myself, but I don't think that many people be interested unless the truck was completely redesigned anyway. This entire post is just a wish list that Toyota won't be reading anyway right?

They have to keep the vehicle around a certain price range and the more safety stuff that gets added means they have to cost cut somewhere else, happens on all vehicles. 2018 Tundras I think all models will come with BSM and all that garbage..that means more money. I had a 2014 Silverado prior to my Tundra and so far don't have many complaints things I think could be better are,

*Access hole in the skid plate like the TRd pro if they keep the oil filter location
*Trailer brake controller could be mounted somewhere a little more visible
*I'm not a fan of LED strip lights on trucks so keep them off the lower grade models like it is now
*Move the aux/cig outlets into the center console on the bench seat trucks, my Silvy had this setup and it kept my devices out of sight and front area cord free
*Cup holders in bench seat console are to big for most drinks, my cups/bottles wobble around like crazy.

Storm Trooper Shift Knob. BMF BATL Wheels.
Locking rear differential. My Titan had it in 2004 (E-locker).
Better Stereo. The JBL system is a joke
Storage in the cab. I have a crewmax and there isn't any storage for anything. Where are you supposed to keep tow straps, tie downs, jumper cables, and other useful items???????
Fully Boxed frame. Lets end bed bounce (Titan has had this since 2004)
    Dead pedal for the driver.
Electronic adjustable pedals (Again my Titan had them back in 2004)
OH GOD a better navigation system This half screen shit sucks, Map details are severely lacking.
I'm sure there are more, I just cant think of them right now.
For god sake I have a Platinum and it doesn't come close to its contemporaries for amenities. And it cost a lot more. I just love paying extra for the Toyota name and not getting anything for it. Oh and reliability has not been top notch with my truck either. Lets try to put that back in the build.

I'm very satisfied with my Tundra for the most part. I treat it like a truck. If I wanted luxury I would have bought a Cadillac. I do have a few requests.
1- Complete revamp of sound system. Ive mentioned it before ( Bangs & Olufsen) hahaha probably not gonna happen.
    2- Headlights
    3- Led lighting throughout.
    4- Spray in bedliner standard.

I would agree some of the tech is lacking, BUT...

We have to pay for that tech as well. If we want to see a 65k dollar 1/2 ton Tundra with all these "bells and whistles" and then we can complain about the price.

Engine/power- still competitive, but I agree. 450 hp mated to the 8 speed would be a nice upgrade.

No kidding right? That is one of the best features I like about my Tacoma.

I heard the new 3.5L Tacoma motor doesn't have the oil filter on the tip anymore. Anyone confirm that?

So like a 3/4 ton added to the lineup?

I could and would like to see that. Options are always nice to have. Then I can see wanting a Full floater rear axle.
