Bedslide/tonneau cover/Milwaukee packout??

Hey all, curious if anyone has a bed slide as well as a tonneau cover and if a packout would fit under the cover still? Or if anyone could give me a measurement from bedslide to underside of tonneau?

 

There are lots of Packout sizes any idea which one you have?

 

I’ve got all of the packout stuff, bottom rolling box, bunch of mediums, larger, and have a few of the drawers on order as well

 

The Rolling box doesn’t fit In my bed if it’s standing with the tonneau cover down - the handle is too high.
I don’t have a drawer system either

 

Here's a pic of my Truckslide and my Bakflip MX4 to hopefully give you an idea. Will get you a measurement once I remember.

 

I've got a bedslide s, I think that's what it's called. I lost 4 inches of depth. I can still fit a 5 gallon bucket under my bed cover. I had a soft roll up, currently I'm running a roll n.lock. I'm more of a tough system kinda guy. I can fit a large box with a clear small parts organizer stacked. I used to be able to stack
2 smalls and a large. I thought I'd really benefit from a bed slide but things just get stuck in it so I almost never use it.

 

I don't understand what "but thing just get stuck in it" means?
The whole idea is that the thing can come out to you instead of getting stuck in it.
That is sure how mine works!

 

16.5" of clearance with the Bakflip MX4, the tray is about 5" high. It's definitely a compromise if you want to keep your tonneau cover closed all the time, but that's not really my priority though when I had mine in mind and I enjoy the usability and convenience the truckslide and Bakflip provides. If you're looking for more height clearance and security, I think I would just go to a camper shell in my opnion.

 

Do you ever carry a standard height shovel in the bed of your truck? I carry 3 shovels with me. Without a beat one them will fall off the tray and wedge itself causing the slide not to slide. And it's not just longer things I've had a small piece of wood stopping it from sliding. The bedslide isn't for me it didn't achieve what I was hoping it would. I'm sure it's great for other people's applications.

Yeah and sometimes I put sides on the slide and/or boxes in the bed to better contain that kind of stuff too,I have had to crawl onto the loaded Slide a few times to free some small thing that got wedged under there.
I still far prefer having the Slide to not having the Slide though every single day but I also got rid of the Lid that my truck came with and put a shell on it right away too,I just need more space back there.

 

Curious, @Vang530 - I have one of these in a shopping cart and am about to check out. Five months later, what do you think of this product… is it stable and meets your expectations? Do you feel the quality is there?
The only thing that would improve it would be collapsible (hinged) sides. I know they’re formed into it for strength, but sure seems like a good convenience. Also, do you keep non-slip on the bottom of the tray to stop things from sliding around?

Very stable fully loaded. I have the 1200 model and have only maxed it out to about 1000lbs only so far and there was no issue, even pulling the tray uphill..granted its still heavy but smooth, and the lockouts are really strong. I love the multiple tiedown options and etrack built in. No rattles or noises at all, everything is still tight and I drive on a lot of bumpy dirt roads and don't slow down for speed bumps. I ended up getting a universal rubber truck bed mat to cut and fit inside of the tray just to stop things from sliding and not damage the tray which I really recommend you do.

Only drawbacks I have is that I do lose some height if I want to fit things under the tonneau cover, but I have a MX4 so I can just fold it so its not a dealbreaker, and the other one is that its not 100% full slide out and I have the 6.5ft bed, but I can still reach everything with no issues. I will not have another truck without one. I never have to climb in the bed of my truck ever again. I hope that helps.

How has your Truckslide been holding up? I'm considering getting one myself. Which size did you get? 49"x64"?

 

Not to hijack @Vang530 here, but this is my favorite mod so far, other than the Fab Four Matrix front bumper that helped us stock the freezer with venison. Solid product… bought mine soon after discussing with @Vang530 and never looked back!

 

Good to hear. Any issues with it moving or flexing when going off-road?

 

No off-road use so far for me, but the tray is very stout. My thinking was, with the ReTrax bed topper, when I needed the bed height and not the tray, being 100% aluminum, I could just slide it out of the tracks and store it in the shop. What I found was, it’s mechanically easy to remove but the actual weight and size of it really makes it a two person job.

Loss of bed space has also not been an issue for me hauling things like tree logs, concrete blocks, powered equipment and mulch.

The wear and tear on my back has been invaluable ;-)

FWIW, Someone on the forum also had a really cool bed mat for his slide with “TUNDRA” stamped into it if you’re wanting to keep the finish looking nice (and the Truckslide does comes with a beautiful finish!)

 

Thanks for the feedback. I currently have a Leitner rack with some gear pods and mounting plates on the sides plus extra load bars on top for strapping things down. It's become difficult to just crawl in and I'm debating on a slide or drawers to make it easier to store and retrieve things. A slide seems like the best option so far since you still have to crawl into the bed if you have drawers but with moderate off roading I'm concerned how the tray and frame will behave. Most guys that off road seem to have drawers but that may be for the extra platform on top.

 

Had mine for over a year and half now with some off road abuse (death valley trips, jumping speed bumps LOL, and flexing it out on rocks). I've also had it loaded up over 1000lbs and it rolls effortlessly. This thing is beefy and I've had zero issues. I love it. I do recommend you get a rubber bed mat and cut it to fit the tray if you don't want things sliding around.
