I have read some comments on various Youtube videos that claim the dealership can "turn off" the fake engine sound piped through the speakers. Can this be done? If so, has anyone tried it?

I've seen those videos as well, I have not seen any way to turn it off yet.

That sound of the "powerful" engine revving, isn't really the engine for the most part. It is just speaker noise to satisfy those who need the sound to make themselves happy. Personally, I'd take a quiet ride over race car noise if possible.

If you don't like the fake engine sound Toyota is now offering a software update called the 2022 TRD Exhaust Upgrade. For just $399.00 or $899.00 installed they will actually pipe in the sound from the 5.7L again through your speakers.

I have no idea. Just something that I keep seeing as being a "feature" of the 22 Tundra. In all honesty, it's hard to tell it's even coming from the speakers, but if it's just fake engine noise, I would choose not to have it, if possible.

Yes. The higher trims of the 3rd gen get the fake engine noise. Same thing Ford did for the Raptor because a TTV6 just doesn't have the beefy sound.

I'm not here to shit talk the 22s but that is the lamest thing I've heard. I hope you can turn if off. Even better i hope you can change it to something like a F16 or the space shuttle. That would be cool.

If they only had a selection of engines to replicate. Rolls Royce V12 Merlin would be my choice. Oh, and outside speakers to fool the others into thinking my Tundra had a Spitfire engine.

I think it starts on the limited and up trims, but it's been a while since I read on it.

It gets mixed reviews. Like I said, Ford did it because people didn't like losing the V8 in the Raptor. Not surprising to see Toyota doing it at the same time they retire the V8 option.

Interesting… I would think they would use a 2007 which not only has the transmission cooler but also a seat back purse.

    Function before sparkle.
It's called Toyota ESE (Engine Sound Enhancement) and is standard on most JBL systems. Carista can shut if off on other Toyota models so it may be possible with the 2022 Tundra.

It’s not, it’s sampled engine sound from the V6 with certain frequencies amplified. Toyota does this with other vehicles too like Avalon. It’s not a “fake” engine sound just “enhanced”. It can be turned off by the dealer with Techstream.
