Got any idea how many 1st's are on here? There has to be few considering their longevity. Hope the 2nd & 3rd gens aren't crowding out the 1st genners. There are definitely some decent 1st gen builds happening here.

maybe 20 or 30 of us tops on 1st gens. 2uz-fe does have major problems (rod failures) do to toyota's cheap :censored: ways or stupid engineering, i dont know which (reminds me of GM) . Why im rebuilding my engine and doing it the correct way. ;)

Considering what you have done and others here, this site is certainly the go to place if someone needs ideas/help with their 1st gen.

I try.. I dont know everything. I dont do suspension up grades( rare i do post in that section ) or bigger tire size combo ( never do posting im MIA)..

I can do 2nd the 3rd gen tundras if i bought one, but like my 1st gen the best. I have had people offer me money for it i turned them down. I have been ask to set one up like mine i have turned it down. There is stuff i didnt post on my build page i didnt add.

Funny thing i have a friend who has a ford mustang cobra. I looked at him i said im going to smoke that mustang on the dyno with my black tundra. He said, try me!guy that knows the details of my engine build said, you better back down he will smoke you.

Mike's definitely the go to guy here, especially the 1st Gens. He'll help you keep it running. 171K? Still has a lot a life left. How long have you had it and any maintenance records? (Help :Mike takes over here)

Make sure the timing belt and water pump is changed every 90,000 miles or 5 yrs. Fuild changed in transmission and transfer and pumpkins. Run synthetic or go home just not in the transmission please.

4.7 (2uz-fe) is a interference engine. Belt breaks so do alot of other things. From valves to connecting rods breaking. Not a cheap fix if the belt breaks.
