I believe the whole reason for cutting the straps is to cut down on the thickness for your console to sit flush, so it's just a preference.

Just step on all my ideas dammit!

Anyways… “tiny dowels” sounds like a bad country song.

If I seem to remember correctly, isn’t there a little slim area right behind the panel, in between it and The shifter housing.

It’s been a minute since I had mine apart.
I very likely could be wrong.

@TaquitoBandito will step on my dreams again, I’m sure.

What's your plan to secure the dowel pins in place so they don't slide out of the loops? There was a post on TW where someone did something similar with a long bolt if I recall correctly. I'll see if I can find that post.

Here are the 2 that I recalled while browsing the TW thread. I cut/pasted their methods below:

Cut webbing and sewed back, cleaner fit no gap ..and used a wood screw so maybe no sliding out

    ps
Works great for big water bottles and maybe a bomber :)

Just finished installing my Static Climbing bags (oxblood in color to match the red accents in my Pro interior). I cannot say enough about Taylor (taylor@staticclimbing.com) for the customization (no extra charge). I had her do a single strap with one small loop on the end so I wouldn't have any gap in the console after install. she also mirrored the bags and has the ink pen loop for a modified "Taco Package" so to speak. I had her replace the fleece with the nylon interior (easier to clean if sugar drinks spill) and left the original size bag and drawstring (in case I have tall smaller diameter bottles I can tighten them down). Here are the pictures of the bags and after install.

Yep this is why I cut it and rolled it. It sits flush and there’s no need for a dowel/screw/whatever. There’s a bunch of ways to skin the cat though

Just finished mine as well. Had all of the "truck mods" done. Console snapped back together nicely. One side for the wife's Yeti, the other side as a small garbage can. Side note, Amazon Basic dog poop bags fit perfectly.

Why not route some plumbing and electricity in there and find you an out of work Leprechaun to hold it in place?

The last leprechauns I had didn’t work well with electricity so I’ve leased them out to Santa during the off season.
Plus, when making cookies, they would constantly fight with the elves.
I thought I could try them at shoe making and that whole event was sole crushing.
And they absolutely refuse to work with Oompa Loompa‘s.
Santa pays me well, they dress as elves and pose for pictures, then Santa only has to give them one tall boy before they black out.
Besides that one incident with Lubdan, it’s been going smoothly.

Love it! Just added mine tonight.

when I ordered they asked me if it was a truck cup holder and I said yes and they had a bunch of options to make it better suited for that purpose. Nylon liner, moving the patch to the back etc. Greta people at a small business with an American made product! Support static climbing!

Ended up going the tactical molle route. Matches the rest of the interior. Wife wants it in her Corolla now. Lol
