Son of a motha that is way too tight. I hope I can get auto correct ( did my last oil change) to own up to this nonsense and just make it right. I knew I shouldve just done it myself but I was in a hurry and didnt wanna mess with it. Anyone else have this shit happen? Can it even be removed at this point? How screwed am I?

Can you take off the actual housing with the removal tool or is that stuck as well?

Ah i see, i thought I was looking at the stripped smaller cap thats metal colored. Since its already broken, you can try to jimmy it loose somehow or if that doesnt work you can cut it since its plastic. Luckily since its facing down, you dont really have to worry about getting anything into your engine. Order a metal one right away so its ready when you finally get that plastic one out.

You can unscrew that, you just may have to get creative. I have had oil filters so tight I had to run a big screwdriver through them to get them off. May need one of these..

Klick Wrench Torque Limiting Oil... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0977XMWL9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Picked this up on Amazon a few weeks ago
Solid piece of billet aluminum. Use a standard 3/8 extension and ratchet. Its gauged at 18.2 ft/lbs which is what Toyota specs are and its stamped right on the face also. It came with a certification card attesting to the torque adjustment. For shits and giggles I put my old plastic cap in a vice and tested it with my good torque wrench. Dead on balls. It can also be used to loosen the caps without causing any damage to it. I like it so far

That’s cool, I ordered one. Tried to order straight from the (Klick Wrench) website but they are sold out, oh well guess Bezos gets a little more cash.

Big channel locks usually work well for this type of problem.

Don't forget to swap the screen tube, so don't destroy it in the process.

I just bought this too. I also just bought the MotivX kit with the funnel and oil filter drain. I plan to use the MotivX filter tool to remove the cap and then the Klik tool to tighten it. Even though they state it’s made to remove it, I don’t want to chance screwing up the torque setting. I don’t loosen bolts with my torque wrench either. I still need to get the metal housing too. Haven’t done my first oil change on my 21 yet.

It needs to be the same length as the stocker. There are shorter tubes that are used on the smaller Toyota cartridge filter engines like the 3.4 liter V6. Most folks have to swap over their stocker into their Dorman or Toyota aluminum cap. Be sure sure sure of the length.

Not sure about the Dorman but the Toyota metal one has a shorter screen which won’t work correctly with the tundra which is why they need swapped over

Been changing my own oil for thousands of years , always installed oil filter hand tight, never have I had one back off, sometimes i have to use the cap wrench to get them off. Now the cartridge type i just torque to spec...why does this have to be so difficult?

    Strap wrench?

Not sure if there's enough swing space to be effective tho.
