I’m hoping they fixed that too but it seems to be the way all Toyota factory remote starts work across models. So wouldn’t be surprised if it still turns off when a door is opened.

Was kinda hoping the 2022 remote start would have features similar to other manufacturers like Nissan (remote start automatically turns the windshield defrost on and turns the heat up). I think they’ve had that for a while. Same with ford and probably lots of other manufacturers. Not a huge deal, I just have to remember to turn the defrost on before I turn my truck off the night before.

Can anyone with a 2022 confirm if the remote start works the same as prev gen?

edit: question answered below by @bigjuice and @Dmon187, thanks fellas! Much appreciated.

It works exactly the same from my understanding. It turns the truck on and shuts off the moment you touch the door handle if I’m not mistaken I could be wrong here. It does turn the heat on if it detects cold weather. I heard they’re releasing an update soon that will allow you to unlock the truck and it stays on though

Everything you said here is true…Truck still shuts of when you open it after remote start and they are looking to release an update to prevent that (that’s the word on the street and from a few auto journalists anyway)

I watched a YouTube from a Toyota engineer in the "official 3rd gen" thread that says an in air update will fix that issue and the truck will stay on after you open the door.

they won’t fit unfortunately, way different. Spacer lifts fit, but coil overs and UCA’s are drastically different

Finally put in the TRD Decal from TVD decals!! Good product! The conditions outside were not the best a bit windy but 70 degrees. God damn R was the most difficult with the wet application. Got it done tho and looks good!! A7DFE1ED-C8C6-4423-B38F-DA8C014FE372.jpg

I’m not a fan of decals and stickers, but it helps break up some of the massive front grille. I almost did red, but I figured most people will do red. What color did you go with for the tailgate? I might do the front dash, but I haven’t decided.

Well I went with grey attempting to match the TRD bed decals and the pin stripe on mine but it’s not the same color so idk. I may do something else.

So I need to install a set of rear air bags or stiffer rear springs for the rear end to get ready for a popup camper that is going to be installed in the beginning of May. Does anyone know of any that are available? Firestone and other websites are showing the same kit for the 2021 which (i'm assuming) will not work with the completely re worked rear end but I guess I could be wrong?

I too am thinking about a pop up slide in. However, payload is a factor. I just weighed my truck, 22’ limited Crewmax 5.5 with premium pkg and full moon roof, oval aluminum running boards from Toyota and trifold tonneau. GVWR = 7230 on sticker; says payload is 1400 before running boards and cover but…..
CAT scale weight was 5980. So, as equipped, and adding 300 for two passengers and removing 65lbs for tonneau and minus some tools at about 50 lbs, the true payload for an empty slide in camper could only be about 1065 lbs. then adding gear would most likely drop it to under 1000lbs available payload. Not to mention adding airbags for suspension.

Oh yeah I'm going to be way over payload and I knew that going into it. My DC SR5 has a 1500 payload rating and I will probably be at 2500 fully loaded with water, passengers and camping gear. I will get flamed by the GVWR police but with proper tires, suspension and possibly brake upgrades I'm not worried.

Noticed on the Timbren website they include the 2022 Tundra for their TORTUN4 rear suspension enhancement that normally replaces bump-stops.
I would not order this until calling Timbren to be sure they have the top adapter available to replace the existing bump-stops.

I'm waiting on airbags, found one company listing the 2022 Tundra, but again I would verify with this company to be sure they have been installed on a 2022 Tundra. The hardware looks like the same air-bag mounting hardware I installed on my 2016 Tundra that I don't think will work on a 2022 Tundra. Waiting to see installed photos before ordering from anyone.

Has anyone had any luck with finding aftermarket running/board/step bars/rock rails?

The only one's I've found that are actually for a 22 are GoRhino.

tbh I know little to nothing about lift kits, having only ever gotten leveling kits for my last 4 Toyotas.
For those folks like myself, would you mind explaining what makes this kit bad?
And what to look for in a good kit?
