Are these LED flood lights? It’s a 2018 Tundra 1794. I have no owners manual, and they don’t seem to turn on.

Maybe burned out? Or something else? If they are flood lights, when are they supposed to turn on?

They’re puddle lights. Should turn on when you unlock your truck.

Thank you. I looked closely in the dark after you posted this; mine do turn on but are very, very dim which is why I didn’t see it before. I’ll replace them.

Morimoto and a few other aftermarket ones are available.

I got these off Amazon for cheap and they are bright!

I just bought replacements on VLEDs, for all interior + cargo + mirror puddles. I didn’t spring for the footwell lighting strips, though I’ll probably get those in a couple months.

Ok, so I removed the factory puddle light. Used a flat tool to poke the tab behind the mirror, and then pulled out the casing from the bottom. Disconnected it. Connected the new VLED puddles to the red connector, and they work great.

But how do I get them to stay in place? They have a notch but no tab or anything I can see to get them to stay put.

They should have come with 3m tape on the backside to help with them staying in. Mine did at least. Alcohol wipe the bottom of the mirror and let it dry before sticking.

Looks like the tape is there, just need to remove the red plastic?

I used a cheaper Amazon version that works great. But mine clipped in place just like OEM.

Yup! Exactly it. Looked at the pic a bit closer after I posted. Just remove the red plastic and stick.

Awesome. Thanks everyone. The red strip wasn’t labeled 3M or anything so I didn’t even notice it was a sticky tape. Problem solved and the new puddles are installed. Amazing difference!

Hmm. So the 3M tape on these are crap. Keeps falling off on one side.

any suggestions for making it stick better? Some kind of glue that will make it strong but not so strong I can’t ever remove it (like Krazy Glue would be)?

If you didnt use rubbing alcohol before sticking them they will fall down. I would get some more 3M double siding tape and make sure you prep the area it sticks to appropriately. With their design I dont think there is much more you can do as they do not come with clips to secure like the OEM ones do.

    I did.

there’s got to be some kind of glue I can add to their sticky surface to make it secure without being impossible to break off should they need to be replaced…?

The LEDs don't do well with dimming-they step dim instead of a steady dim like incandescent.

I've never had that problem with mine and they have been in for a year and a half. I would just buy some more 3M tape and try it again. They make 3M tape in different strengths too. Make sure it is prepped and do it on a warm/dry day.

Dang, usually 3M works pretty well. I would either try fresh double sided tape just put a couple daps of super glue, you should still be able to break it off

Same here, I have VLED universal puddle lights since I wired them.
I stuck them on years ago and they have never come out.

Never had an issue with them fading on and off either.
    Looks pretty smooth to me.

@Shadowfax1 it's odd they came loose even after you cleaned it.
I used this to put the letters back on my TRD Pro grille after I had them painted.
Never had a problem in 6 years..
Also used on my aluminum light bars for my amp steps.
