1/3 of the way to swapping out interior bits to make him an SR5+ (Swapped out radio bezel, inner door panels and center cup holder insert… just need to find NM power leather seats… likely never living the full dream of a power sunroof, but alas

The fuse is there and it’s a 15A just like the lid says it should be…unless the fuse is bad (even though it’s never been used?)

yeah, I wanted to use that blank really bad, but it seems that 04 DC (at least mine) had it moved to the turn signal/headlight lever, so I snagged said lever off of a donor truck

Related/unrelated… I see that I also have a fuse in place for seat heaters (the buttons light up… … … … at least they ~DID~ when I first installed that trim piece a year ago… :(

I dunno what’s up with those but they can wait until another day

On my 04 DC, the fog light relay is part of the Instrument Panel Junction box located at the drivers left knee. Have you and/or can you check if the fuse is good with your meter or physically see if it looks good. You'll know if it's blown when you look at it vs a good one.

Also, if you turn your headlights on, lay in floor board with head by brake pedal looking back at Instrument fuse panel, reach up and rotate Fog Switch to on and off, you should hear a click of the relay energizing/contacts closing/opening each time you turn Fog switch on/off. You can take the panel below steering wheel off that has 4-10m bolts and even verify if a relay is in place where drawing below shows.

    Just re-read this part....
If all is well, you should see approx 12 VDC at the fog lamp plug.

from 2004 EWD linked earlier in another post...can't remember if you have DRL ?

Sooooo, apparently my specific year/model/configuration likes to be a cheeky jerk…

Short version is that by all accounts the donor stalk/lever is fine… my fuse for the fog lights is fine

The relay doesn’t exist under the hood with ~most~ of the other relays

It would seem that that particular relay is likely/probably/hopefully *BEHIND* the fuse box in the cab and is either not actually there or somehow died despite not being used for 18 years…

so I’m thinking that tomorrow or whenever “soon” comes around, that I’ll go outside my comfort zone and access that area and try to make sense of things. If it’s just a missing or fried relay then I’ll be quite happy

if that gets replaced and it still doesn’t work, then I’m hearing that they’d have to do a trace to see where the wires are bad…

If I’m understanding the situation at all that is

Just to cover my bases and spare myself undue headache; I’ll take pics of my engine bay places and see if I’m just dumb and not seeing/reading thing correctly

You said those fog light connectors have been dangling around since the truck was new. When sticking the meter in the plugs you may not be getting a good connection due to corrosion. Make sure the metal prongs in the connector look alright.

If you end up going the route of replacing them this may be a good time to go ahead and remove the connectors so you can test the bare wires.

Had 2 different people test both of them. Both acknowledged that the plugs were far from clean, but both assured me that with the meters prongs being as they were that there should’ve been at least SOMETHING registering. I’ll at least do my due diligence and see how much a relay is. Given the alternative may be to trace the wires, I’d prolly prefer trying the relay first. Even if it turns out that it’s a wire issue, it’s probably not a terrible idea to swap that relay

I’m 99% sure that I no not have DRL. My ‘02 did and I vaguely recall being bummed that my current one wouldn’t have them

Buddy of mine checked the fuse and all that good stuff but neither of us realized at the time where the relay was. He found online that it’s right where you show it is, but we called it a night not knowing ~where~ it was back there. Thanks to you we know exactly where it is now. Thank you so much for that.

it feels like I’m in progress limbo on 20 different things with this truck and adding more each week, hahaha

thankfully there are only a few left that line up with my vision for him… it’s going to be a wild ride when any/many of them actually finish and I can have tangible results

But yeah, that diagram you shared is immensely helpful!

    Ouch, my wallet (maybe)

I head nothing when listening for those sounds you talked about, so either mine is fried or there just may not be one in that slot

either way Toyota wants $100 for that little bugger

I’ll see if I can find an aftermarket one, but at the same time it’ll have to be done one way or another
