I have some max on order with the backlights but they are delayed until Feb 23rd.

You can save your Amazon money and go through @memario1214 for diode dynamics stuff for a great price and to save on sales tax.

I too ordered some of the fogs from @memario1214 but in the Sport model. When I ordered, DD was showing late Jan eta, so patiently waiting

I did find some information on DD Facebook page explaining how they work. Fogs on, backlight off. Fogs off, backlight on. Have to find a 12v source to tap into.

I may forego and just do normal fogs.

The best way to think about the backlight is that it illuminates the lens of the housing without actually turning on the main light beam. Strictly aesthetic, and just makes kind of a cool "running light" effect.

As you mentioned, you can find your own location to tap your backlight into.

I'll be sending out an update to everyone waiting, but short answer is that I expect yours to ship in the next week or so if you ordered sports!

I have the SS3 with yellow backlight on my hood. I'll try to grab a picture and update this post when I get a chance. Grabbed them from @memario1214 just recently actually.

Thanks! I believe the only difference is the backlit feature. Mine are just the Sport version and put out a ton of beautiful amber light…the stock fogs were pitiful!

A few more pictures. 3 with the fogs in backlit mode and one with them on. You can see the color change. I really like that the backlit color matches the turn/marker lights.

Some early morning backlit SS3 testing . Locked some camera settings so that you can see the intensity/color temp differences.

We haven't received any white w/backlight SS3s at Hotshot HQ yet, but here's the same camera conditions with a SSC2. The color profile of the amber stays pretty consistent across lens colors (sorry for the rough pics on the white light - that's what I get for locking cam settings and snapping with my iphone).

Not hard at all. Budget for 90 minutes total. Then another 30 minutes to aim them one evening.

Whatever this forum told me to do
took me an hour for both. mostly fighting with the plastic wheel liner. it's easy plug and play.

hard part is finding the + tap for the backlights. you can choose.

I'm not that mechanically inclined. May need to have a professional do it.

You could, but I seriously could talk someone through it pretty easily.

Since I forgot to send out your Pedal Commander yesterday want me to just toss it in a box with some SS3 Pro fogs and send it your way?

oh man - super jealous with my "normal" SS3s - grats on the new model and the backlight options (will have to consider when I get my driving lights)

@memario1214 Haha....I just pulled the trigger on new wheels, tires, rear sway bar, pedal commander, and a leveling kit, so I'm trying not to overwhelm the wife anymore. However, the SS3's are next!

They are a touch dimmer than I hoped, but for the most part, I like them on my 2008 Sequoia. Thanks again @memario1214!

These look SO GOOD. Thank you for sharing!

I wasn't going to go backlit on my personal build, but it's actually subtle enough that I'm like... MAYBE :monocle:

I'm realizing that there are actually a lot of lighting options that have the backlight. The fact that its subtle is a huge plus unless you are the wallet. I'm now looking at lighting I didn't think I needed hahaha
