    Testing

paper clip just inserts the link like normal, and paper clip with the x just makes it unlinkable.

but failed the first couple times at that, too.

@empty_lord Sounds like you need to add mid engine configuration to the 6 speed idea.

Also, almost reached out to that link you posted to see of they'd ship them color matched side views, but then realized it's just one picture, and it's also posted in aviation. Feels sketchy.

There are a few faux listing on Craigslist around here that I see and just immediately feels sketch. A buddy I knew got his ass handed to him when he agreed to meet up in the woods to buy some wicked cool off roader. Beat the fuck up, and robbed. $7200 down the terlet

Nobody should be meeting anyone in the woods for a Craigslist buy.

    That's pretty sketchy right there.

Cursory search didnt find a better place to ask this, but there are some smart fellers in here.

who has any suggestions towards a gate controller thats out of wifi range? Signal booster? wifi repeater? Whatever this is? Or this thing?
    or ring access pro?
i also need to send internet out to my shop.
My buddy who deals with these things is talking way over my head, and research starts here, so anyone have ring? Whatcha think about it? Doorbird?

or should i go back to a manual gate with a combination lock?

Nah, the hate is for the change from tradition not hate for the product itself.

I think that is the whole point though...it's not a "Corvette" even though it is undoubtedly the best sports car GM ever built from any objective measurement. I think GM just didn't want to disassociate the name Corvette from their best performing product...which I also understand to a degree.

Comparing a simple styling queue to a complete architecture overhaul is a bit....um, apples to oranges. Going from a front-engine to mid-engine layout is significantly more than "a bit more"...

Actually, you just made everyone who complains about the change in tradition's point. The reason Porsche doesn't put the top tier motor in the Cayman, is not because they are trying to hold the Cayman back, but rather because they are trying to preserve the tradition of the 911 being their flagship "mass production" model. Yes, they build faster cars than the 911 and they are all mid-engine, but they aren't considered the "quintessential Porsche," that is reserved for the 911. If Porsche just shitcanned the Cayman and made the next 911 mid-engine, the "Porschists" would lose their freaking minds...lol

Full disclosure my parents have a history of Porsche ownership that goes back to early 1960s 356s...I like em, but don't hold the 911 in such reverence...(now the 917 on the other hand...)

Oh, and the Italian's were not at the forefront of mid-engine cars, race or otherwise...though they were probably the first to put it in a high-performance road car (Miura).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rear_mid-engine,_rear-wheel-drive_layout#History

I don't get the hate for Corvette interiors given their price point. Are they equivalent to $500,000 Ferraris? Nope...but compare them to any car that matches their performance/price...but you can't, because their performance/price is not remotely matched by any other automobile on the planet. That performance has to be paid for somewhere if they aren't going to charge $125K for the base model, like their next closest (performance) competitor. To me, this complaint is significantly weaker than complaining about abandoning the historical DNA of the drivetrain layout.

The DCT (and every "auto" transmission) is inferior to manuals in the most important subjective way...driving experience. Nobody would argue that manuals are faster or better MPG anymore. Those arguments died 20 years ago. Driving a manual is to be a part of the machine, not simply an operator. As a simple mode of transportation manual vehicles are objectively shit. As a mode of enjoyment, "autos" are subjectively shit. My 17 year-old daughter doesn't hassle me to drive our Odyssey or my Tundra, but she constantly asks to drive the much slower/worse handling 4Runner 5sp...because it's "more fun" in her words. It's engaging. Autos of any kind sanitize the driving experience. Unless the point is to get from point A to point B with the least amount of driver engagement or to get from point A to point B in the absolute fastest time, I'll take a manual.

I don't knock the C8 at all....it's fantastic...even without saying "for the money." But I completely understand the people who don't like the fact that "it's not a Corvette" anymore...just like a "911" with a mid-engine would not be a "911" anymore.

    I’ve driven a creme de la creme c5 z06, and a flappy paddle gt2 911, and a f360 modena, and a f355.

the corvette and porsche were more fun than the ferraris because they were a little wilder. Low torque ferraris stick hard and are predictable, repeatable, and quicker than stink. But they dont punish mistakes like the vette or 911. Maybe its a motorcycle thing, or maybe cause i like chicks with tattoos, but its way more fun when its dangerous.

I would go with a hardwired CAT6 connection or fiber myself, but that's only because I'm in a highly congested area with hundreds of neighbors generating wi-fi connection interference.

You want an access point over a wi-fi extender. The latter can diminish your bandwidth if it's not faster than the bandwidth you have.

I am confident that if Porsche had never sold the Cayman and instead had moved the 911's powerplant midships, the pushback would be much smaller than had they changed the profile of the car. That shape, along with the RR driveline, are what make the 911 what it is. There were rumours some time ago that the new GTs were going to go mid-engined and no one complained because of the obvious increase in performance potential.

And Porsche did attenuate the power on Caymans so's to maintain the 911's position as flagship. That was very clear from early on in testing of the Caymans.

The beef about the vette's lackluster interior has everything to do with its flagship status and less with its overall performance/dollar value. If it were marketed as an 'affordable' land rocket, then there's no leg to stand on. But they're marketed and sold as the end-all be-all performance machine from Bowtie.

I feel that the suspension, handling, chassis balance, steering feedback, etc are more experiential than the gearbox. My car with a DCT would be just as much of an experience as it is with the manual.
Having owned a Tundra and a T4R and working for Honda, I can assure you the T4R is the most fun of those three to drive regardless of how many pedals it has.

i doubt any of my neighbors have enough range to interfere. The big access point says 183meters (600ish ft) so hypothetically, i mount it on a 50’ pole, it can see a sphere of 300’ radius from that point, or is that a focused 600’ beam, and if several phone attached it would spread it out thinner?

jack mcarthy’s tag about luminiferous ether is kinda how my brain thinks wifi works.

Didn't it say omni-directional? That's in all directions. Personally, I prefer directional for better range.

The nice restaurant I worked at during college was robbed one night I was off. I got my permit after that. Then, less than a year after getting my permit, I was at my bank about 10-15 minutes before it got robbed. I had my Ruger LCR on me that day. Both businesses are in a good part of town. You never know.
