In the final hour of my last night shift for the week. It has been quiet as far as issues go, but man has it felt long. Looking forward to going home in about 50 minutes.

There was a little skiff. Nothing major, but it's cold outside. Roads might be a little slick, but nothing I haven't been driving on/in for the last couple decades.

Woke up at 3 to some weird dreams and couldn't get tired again.
All good, I slept hard for 5.5 hrs.

 

Generally, if anyone is commenting in here much before I get off shift I just kind of assume insomnia. We all seem to gather here, though at 5.5 hours I am pretty well done if I wake. Not surprised you couldn't get back to sleep.

Any plans for the week off?

 

A friend is coming to visit from out of town. Going to con him into helping me get the garbage RTT ready to ship, and might go camping in his beefy canvas tent if it's not to ridiculously cold. If nothing else, going to hang out a bit. Then I have to make a trip to see other friends. It'll be a full week.

I got a couple and I think I can get it passable between the two.

 

Woke up at 2am thought about posting something but before I could went back to sleep for another 2.5 hours. Should be a solid day. Still busy but a little less stressful.

No way that’s a legit product. I’ve been watching the 12v version on Amazon. A year or so ago it was fulfilled by SDHQ. Last week it had a price drop, but the company fulfilling the order was something like Midnight Distributors. F-that. The counterfeiters are now going after ARB’s more expensive gear!

 

For me it’s normally the footsteps I hear in the middle of the night. Our kids normally sleep in their own beds really good by themselves but have a habit of coming into ours at about 5am when I wake up. The other morning I hear the footsteps, they get in bed, I get up to pee and look at the clock and it’s midnight. Shit! So I go sleep in their beds by myself but usually takes me forever to go back to sleep and drag ass the next day.

 

I think I’d be to lazy to aim my .40 in the middle of the night. I’ve got the 12 gauge if that were to ever happen.

 

Drop a 600L light and green laser on it, and you hardly have to open your eyes (with that light, you'll only hardly be able to open them anyway).


But I think .40 qualifies here as well...

 

I preach about the best home defense firearm, even while I don't use it myself... A pump action shotgun loaded with 2 3/4" 8 shot rounds. Non-magnum 8 shot loads are extremely deadly to a person in the same room with you, even if that room is huge. Once they hit drywall, their lethality declines extremely significantly. And if there's a bad guy who doesn't know what racking a pump shotgun means to their immediate future, it's because they're deaf.

With kids in the house I get that it's not optimal to keep a deadly weapon by the bed. Math to do for your family.
