i cant see spending 2500 ish on a winch.....i will really never be on a rocky slope by myself at night, life or death etc lol. i will use this for pulling cars out of ditches a few times....maybe a big log off a hill. i also need a winch for my new UTV. i think i will get a 12k VR evo with synthetic for $750 or so. i'm leaning towards the small mini bumper for the middle. I dont know if i need the holes on the bumper? also - anyone have the new warn bluetooth app remote ? that looks pretty slick although the video on their site starts out in Vietnamese

anyone.....smittybuilt x20 looks to be the best for the $ but i am leaning towards the warn bumper and i might be too OCD to have a smittybuilt wimch showing through a warn bumper. any reason to spend $1600 or so for a non platinum zeon? i dont need the wireless freespool. i dont really need a winch but i think it will be pretty cool when i can use it and worth every dollar if I need it.

No experience with warn but 12k should be plenty for you. I'm running ironman 12k monster winch, it's fast, low profile and came with a 5 year warranty and an extra controller box and remote. Love it.

Its great, I got it because it was made to fit my Ironman Raid bumper, all i had to do was reclock the gearbox to be able to reach it inside the bumper, but they had easy instructions with it. The quality is really good. They seem to have sales often so be on the lookout for that.

I dont actually, I ride my bike to work lol. Plus its inside the bumper so it would be hard to get pics of. Watch the install video for the Raid front bumper on Ironmans webside, they show him installing it and reclocking it. It will give you a really good idea of it.

Hahaha, dont care about the gas mileage as I do multiple cold starts for a 2 mile drive and not having enough time for it to get to temp.

I got the Smitty X20 12K for 629 when it went 100 off recently, It was worth watching prices as long as I did.

Edit: $611, but it makes sense, they just discontinued the gen 2 for the gen 3

That’s a good deal. My X20 10k Synthetic Rope was $575ish I think OTD at 4 Wheel Parts this summer.

I got lucky. I knew the price and when it went down about 100, I knew to buy. I'm really glad I did, checking prices the other day I was like, damn.

I have a VREVO10S on my rock crawler and it has performed flawlessly and has some cool features. My favorite thing is the remote can be used with the provided wire or wirelessly. They are also waterproof. I would go with the warn name and customer service way before I would touch a Shittybuilt product.

I am sure the Smittybuilt winches are pretty decent. I would venture that the 4WP guys have them because they are a house brand and they get a very nice discount on them.

What’s funny is from what I understand the majority of mass produced winch’s , warn , smittybilt ,etc are all made in foreign countries. Prob all in the same factory just rebranded. I’m no winch expert but from my research get a warm if you plan on using it all the time, if your planning on using it from time to time your probably going to be better off saving the extra $1500 on other mods for your trucks and get something more cost effective. Ultimately it’s your own personal decision and money being spent.

I wouldn’t run a smittybilt if it was free.

WARN premium winches are made in the USA such as their M, Zeon, Zeon platinum series. The Evo series are made at Warns factory overseas but I believe they come with the same warranty and US based customer service and parts support. They have good QC on all of their winches.

Sorry to hear your SMITTY BUILT attitude , but alot of offroaders have run them for years with good results . And I don't think you have to worry about someonegiving you one for free. Also makes a good RTT AND AIR COMPRESSOR.
