I bought some new wheels for winter and bought some Toyota TPWS/TPMS sensors for them. I was happy to read in the manual of the control we have (or are supposed to have) for swapping wheels.

In the menu, the software prompts do not match the manual and there isn't a change wheel option as noted in the manual. Will add this to the growing list for my first service appointment of things to address. In the meantime, does anyone else not have the "Change Wheel" option under "Vehicle Settings/TPWS" ?

No idea if they made the 22s different but my stealership told me I had to pay them $35 to do something to the computer every time I swap my wheels. My question was if that's true, why was I able to go through two wheel swaps without issues and only now have problems after the most recent one?

Total rip off... For my '18 4Runner, I bought the ATEQ Quickset and loaded the summer and winter TPMS codes into the device. It is a slick interface. It allowed you to download the sensor ID's from the truck and then I entered the new sensors manually into the software and saved to the device. To swap I simply plugged into the OBD port and with key in on position pressed the winter or summer tire button and poof, done. The tool was less than $100 and paid for itself in 18 months. The new Tundras are supposed to have the ability to have the wheels changed by the owner without a service visit to reprogram the sensors as a DIY function. You put it into scan/learn mode and then drive with the new wheels / sensors and it will recognize and program itself. Looks like the software load in the truck does not align with what the manual says. Called the dealer and they said I have to bring it in.

I can't get my 2022 platinum to display a “change wheel” function either.

Each time you swap wheels on/off you have to do 'Set wheel position' (or something like that) instead of 'change wheel'. The process is the same, but it just shows different than the manual. Regardless, I've followed the process in pg480-482 (2022 manual) 3 times now without issues.

Thanks for the help! I was able to get my aftermarket tpms to be recognized by the truck after I followed your suggestion.
