    Wow, I'd hate to have to pay for that recovery bill.... I've never seen a helicopter recover a civilian vehicle like that before. :eek:

    Makes me feel like I am lacking in my recovery kit. Where do you get a chopper? I personally would upgraded the tires and suspension first.

    Good article. Reinforces why I always have 10+ gallons of water in my truck. A SAT phone, Spot or PLB would be wise too. I used to always wear a PLB when racing/delivering sailboats.

    somehow I suspect most insurance policies have an exclusion cause for airlift recovery. Most don’t even cover off-roading accidents.

    too many variables to give a truly accurate number, but as an average, the chinook is a medium lift and runs between $3k and $6k per hour depending on what you’re including in your costs. Some of the heavy lift helos are easily more than double that. But it depends on a lot of factors.
