Looking thru a lot of threads here, do folks drop their OEM 20” wheels for 18”?
Any particular reasons for that? Availability, price, look, performance?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I’m a newb.

    TIA.

I like the looks of more tire. Tires are a little cheaper also.

18 inch rims allow more sidewall flex and provide a slightly less harsh ride on the road vs a 20 inch rim with the same overall diameter tire. When used off road you can air down the tire to allow even more sidewall flex and a greater contact patch to the trail which provides more traction, similar to slicks on a drag racer. With a 20 inch rim on the trail there is also less sidewall to provide protection from rim damage from those pesky rocks.

Yes, I plan to do exactly that when my OEM tires have reached end of life.
