the damage may be more excessive due to poor design of the potential contact area yes.
However nobody should hit a rut like that at speed with a load in the back

Meant douche fluter* but autocorrect dumped the R. Edited the post. A douche flute is a vape, so I was drawing a parallel to the flat brim vape twits of the WRX/STI scene.

No, not really. He didn’t do anything I haven’t. Had my shit in a few ORV parks and I’ve learned to carry several snatch blocks, tree savers, and winch extensions. He bumped through a few puddles.

    I landed a Chevy 2500 so hard off a
cattle guard I pinned my shoulders to the ceiling on the rebound. Didn’t dent the cab, but I think it cracked the headache rack.

Not a big deal. Just another caveat to the 3rd Gen fiasco. "We at Toyota realize you paid extra for 4wd and the previous two generations you could pretty much could jump canyons with, at your next scheduled visit 4wd high will be removed and only 4Lo will be an option". It will be renamed 4Slow and we will be the only 1/2 ton with this option. Toyota wins again.

Strange, my 2.5gen has been through far worse without any damage to the cab or frame. Can't say the plastic front bumper underneath is unscathed though, but who cares?

I think its interesting this happened to him and I would pay attention if it happened more regularly.

Its not the first truck of any make I have seen with that kinda damage.

I had a last gen TRD and it was like my cheap beater and I thrashed it a few times through some pretty rutted mud holes. I also jumped it. Was always a solid truck, no damages.

Don't even need to go to the dealership. It can be done as an OTA update!

Being lazy and not watching the video. Is it a forged aluminum, cast aluminum, or CNCed billet aluminum? For example: You can buy aftermarket aluminum UCAs that are way beefier than the stock steel ones. Just saying it's aluminum doesn't illustrate it's strength.

Turns out the damage was caused by someone pulling him out of mud he got stuck in. Lol.it seems the video is actually getting Toyotas attention.

This is a one off. Anytime someone abuses his truck like he stole it, bad things can and do happen. If this perpetuates and shows up in several other trucks then it is worth talking about.

Yup, saw that recent post as well. As others have said, like a train reck...hard to look away.

It would be nice to see Toyota make a change so this can't happen.

I will stand by my statement. The guy played in a few mud holes. My GX has been in worse mud holes in Louisiana, climbing rocky terrain from Arkansas through Texas, Colorado, and Utah. I don’t get stupid but I have had all 4 wheels off the ground a few times by “accident”.

This guy may be a tool but that drive up a snow-covered trail was not 'abuse' even if we wasn't exactly babying it. He wasn't running at high speed and he wasn't jumping it. Many of us have similar drives to get to our property and our trucks aren't being damaged. If the truck was damaged while being pulled out of mud then that's a different story. However, if it was damaged during the drive then the 2022 is an even weaker offering than the ridiculous V6 turbo would otherwise indicate.
