Valhalla’s Shield theft deterrent/skid plates info and ordering post

I got the tips in, and I welded the rest of the nuts, and started welding the front skid plates, but everything keeps coming up, it is supposed to be cold and rainy tomorrow, perfect day to hide by my welding machine

 

Here is one ready for powder coat

 

Whoo Hoo! Finally pulled the trigger and ordered both front and rear cat shields, now the wait begins....I promise not to bug you tyler.

Tyler was great and sent me the front plate a month ago since it was going to be a while for the rest of the order to be ready, so I've been able to relax a little with partial protection in the meantime. I'm so looking forward to adding the the rear plate and front skid. No one's stealing my cats again! They hit our Sequoia in my wife's school parking lot in broad daylight back in November. Then 3 weeks later (while we were waiting for replacement cats for our Sequoia) they hit the Accord we were borrowing from her mom while it was parked in our driveway at 4am. I woke up to the sound of the cutting metal, ran out of the house and chased them down the street, but not before they got it. Got a video of the getaway car for the police, but couldn't read the plate.

 

Most of the time the vehicle (or the plates at the least) are stolen. Unless they’re caught in the act it’s really tough to catch these guys.

 

What’s the lead time on these with powder coat? For the lifted option.

 

The lifted front skid plate isn’t done quite yet, it is close though

So, the front skid plate was originally designed for a 3/4 bolts, with the TRD nut plate, it goes down to a 3/8 bolts, it gives a lot of wiggle room for the plate to move left and right. I am planning on making a minor change to the width of the slot to help with this issue

 

Yep this, neighbor was able to get the plates off the car that stole my dad's and it came back stolen.

Finally got my rear plate on Wednesday night, had a warmer 40º day. I'm glad Tyler does include the extra washers, I did need to put them in to get the correct spacing on the Z bracket. I put everything on loosely and trying to adjust everything the passenger side bracket was perfect but the drivers side needed the 2 extra washers, everything else seems square so I'm happy. It was a bit of a pain reaching the front (slotted) nuts on top to get those tightened back down though. Anyone ordering the security bolts I think is overkill, if there were nuts welded on the frame to where you didn't need to hold the nuts on top I would say they'd be worth it, but having to do that I don't think any crackhead is going to spend the time to figure it out, but that's just my opinion (I'm kind of dreading having to take these off for any maintenance).

Also kind of wished I went for the 3/16" instead of 1/8", just to be more of a skid than just cover. They are a bit tinny sounding when you hit it, I might put some gasket material between the front and rear plates when I check the bolts. Overall very happy!

They cut my BAM when they stole my cats.
Thinking about having Keith make me a 12 to replace my butchered 10.
Will I have any issues replacing the stock muffler (the dealer is putting one on) with another BAM?
Looks like there is plenty of room in the pic, but just wanted to check.
Don't really want to have to remove the rear shield to install the BAM...

Does spray painting them orange really deter the buyers or thieves? I can't imagine they care as long as the guts aren't missing...
