Nice that you and your coworker could find a balance. I could probably do that schedule if I had never had this one, but after having every other week off.... I don't want to go back. It'd take quite a bit of money for me to give up a vacation every other week.

This is me until I get through check in/security/customs/whatever else you have to do these days then I stroll (while keeping out of the way) because I'm generally super early and I don't like to sit before a flight.

I tend to kill the vibe on travel days whether it's flying or camping, always want to leave early and just get to the destination. Working on slowing myself down to make travel days less stressful on the family.

 

Yep, same. I chill out once I get through security.

 

I actually enjoy driving and flying, so travel days aren't bad for me. Note: I say this having never flown farther than from SLC, UT to Houston, and I generally avoid road trips longer than 5-6 hours unless it is for something special.

My rotating shift is so confusing I probably shouldn't even explain it. I do get a lot of time off though, plus OT built into the shift.

 

What line of work are you in?

No pressure to share, either. I'm pretty private and don't give many details, so I totally understand if you don't want it all over the internet.

 

I earned my living with a CDL for a time (not OTR or anything) so 10-14 hour days with up to 11 of them driving was my life for about 3 years.

 

.... I'm gonna need an industry to know WTH that means.

Don't get me wrong, I love to fly and drive on trips. I just have this superb quality where I stress out about getting to the destination, while enjoying myself at the same time. Yep, I'm an odd duck.

 

Crazy how just standing for that long can be brutally exhausting, eh? Retail was bad for this. 8-12 hours on your feel while also dealing with entitles shitwits of the public.

I find the fact that you are a duck at all to be quite odd.
