EBC BRAKES/ Thoughts?

How are EBC brakes? I just got quoted this. Not sure if I should pull the trigger..

I put them on my Armada this summer (non-sport rotors). They seem good, but only put about 3k miles on them so far. I put Powerstops on my Tundra and they were shot at 25k. So I don't recommend the Powerstop rotors.

Edit: I have found drilled and slotted rotors to be noisy and really do not notice any gain in performance from them on trucks or suvs. Maybe on a sports car, but they didn't make any difference other than create more noise in my experience.

 

I too have the Powerstops.. I got a good 30,000 and now feeling very soft.. So it’s time to change out.

 

Just received these stoptech slotted cryo rotors last week. Going with EBC yellow stuff pads. Great combo!

 

I plan on going ebc yellow with stoptech cryos on all corners when I wear out my stocks more

 

Put stoptech cryo slotted rotors and ebc yellow pads on my truck last summer. Best setup I’ve had. I’m almost 10k in and no shaking or loss or braking. My powerstops were shot by 10k. I’ve never tried ebc rotors.

 

Why doesn't anyone go with OEM?

Idk most rotor and pad problems seem to be from aftermarket stuff. OEM stuff seems to always be the quietest, last the longest and create the least amount of brake dust.

 

The oem stuff constantly have run out problems.

 

Got mine from autoaccessoriesgarage for about $135 each and they shipped fast & free.

 

Got EBC slotted rotors and yellow pads on the 4Runner. Excellent and sensitive braking! Wife loves it. Planning on getting the same setup on my Tundra when it’s time to change out my pads/rotors

 

I have EBCs all around on my 4Runner and Tundra, slotted and dimpled on the front. Just got the tundra ones a few thousand miles ago since the power stops got warped. 4Runner ones have been on for 10s of thousands without issue, Tundra ones so far have been equally amazing.

EBC are one of the better aftermarket brakes.

Why do you need aftermarket brakes?

Personally, I always go OEM, nothing else is even close to as good in my experience.
OEM will almost always be the longest lasting, best performing all around, and cheapest high-quality choice.

I have used aftermarket on various vehicles from 4x4 to sports cars over the years, always a total waste of money.
Slotted and drilled make huge brake dust mess, and eat pads much faster, and sometimes make noise.
These are for race vehicles, pointless on the street imho.
They also replace them completely often, like race engines.
Now if you are supercharged, heavily loaded/armored up and/or drive hard (like I used to) you may need more stopping force from aftermarket brakes, but there are tradeoffs.

I just did front rotors and pads at 78k miles last week.
OEM $120 per rotor, $120 for pads (Toyota is proud of these)
Dealer tried to give me $70 pads and said that's what they install all the time, I insisted on the Factory OEM ones, so I had to pay more.
Most know OEM parts are superior to aftermarket for OEM applications.
Brakes, alternators, starters, water pumps, belts, exhaust (longevity/anti rust), bearings, stuff you rarely mod.

 

This has also been my experience but in fairness I've also never tried or driven anything with premium brakes.

 

Yes, always go factory OEM. The economy OEM's are not on the same quality level.

 

EBC yellows with EBC RK rotors. Noticeable improvement in braking performance, but the pads are noisy, make lots of dust, and don’t last long (10k miles for me). Would not use yellows on a daily driver. The EBC rotors are really good.

Others that have used the EBC yellow. What are your experiences with:
1. stopping power
2. life of the pads
3. brake dust


Has anyone used the other EBC pads? Green, Red, Blue?

 

I have the fronts. No issues to report. Better than stock.

I bought EBC Truck & SUV pads through Autoplicity.com and the prices were much better than most of the other webstores.

I would just buy Advics rotors (they make them for Toyota) from Rockauto, and then buy the pads separate.

 

Yes, they are good. I bought mine in April from Autoplicity for better price than most of the other online stores. The part numbers are ED91815 ($165) and ED91816 ($107), which were the prices at the time.

 

Green on everything for me, ended up with Blues on the back of the Tundra since they didn't have Green in stock.

 

The boxes are in the back of my truck, will try to look later today when I get time and report back.

Thanks! Those are what Sparks shows for replacement parts when placing an order so I wonder what the dealer gave you last time since there no cheaper option on Sparks. What I am wonder is why 2018-2021 have a different part number for pads thats $10 more. 04465-0C020 vs 04465-02440
