i live out in the burbs and lately there have been a lot of vehicle break ins. A few weeks ago I go out on a Sunday morning and someone got me.

They didn't take anything just threw stuff around.

The following Wednesday, my wife was awake - looked out the window and they were back.

A friend of mine got hit twice (they flipped the finger at his camera and proceeded to try and get in his car. His next door neighbor had his 5.0 GT stolen then they tried to get his wife's WRX)

The police told us that it's been happening since the start of they year, and they've hit toyotas, Hondas, BMWs, Subarus, and older American cars (theres a lot of old school rides around here).

So today, a kid I never saw before in a Lexus drove by asking about my truck, what year, oh it's got leather, a sunroof, oh man duals? Of course I called the cops, but, dang... I feel like they're trying to get me.

I'm thinking, I'm gonna sit up one night with the .380 but that's not the right thing to do either....

Oh well... had to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening.

Get a good ol fashion Club for the steering wheel. Shorting someone to protect property is defensible in court; so be careful with that.

Do you have any other means to secure it? Sorry to hear about your situation.

Run to the store and get this, plus the club. Stick the motion in the truck and if someone enters it, you will hear the pager next to your head.....IMG_1341.jpg

If you have trees in your front yard game cameras work great. Also motion sensor lights. Also rubber bullets or bean bags. If you really want them to leave a paintball gun with frozen paintballs. Make sure your tailgate is locked as well.

The problem with these ideas...these guys obviously pay attention to locations

Pop them with a frozen paintball or rock salt etc and they come back with intent to do harm or more malicious damage

While no one should ever fear retaliation from the criminal element, you still want to ensure you and your family's safety

good cameras, watchful eyes, and HOPEFULLY a motivated PD

Can never have enough security. Yes get the best Club they have. For a motion light i like the Stealth brand over the crap ones you see in the stores. Some good suggestions already. Security is peace of mind. Always have to stay 5 steps ahead of these worthless criminals! They are always working and always scoping out targets. Protect your house too! Window security film is installed on every window in my house.
I have been meaning to look at the Ring products^^
Its a damn shame...i am paranoid all the time! I ask my wife is she worries...she says no you do enough worrying for the both of us.

Lights.....have plenty of lights....enough to make God be proud.

I wouldn't waste your money on the club. Most theives can disable those in under ten seconds quietly. Remember, the steering wheel is plastic and can be cut very easily.

As others have stated, cameras work well for catching someone later on.

I personally would not come out of my house to confront a theif with a gun. Way to many variables and moving parts in that equation.

Instead of the club, how about the club for the brake pedal? You can't even put the car in gear. They would have to tow it. Or spend a lot of time trying to drill the lock out of it.

    [/QUOTE]

Not the ones that I've seen, they basically pull up on your brake pedal while pushing against the floor of the truck making it so that you can't push down on the brake pedal to get it out of park.

Back in 2011, we had an "issue" staying at Canyonlands in downtown Moab, UT. We had to park our rigs down below (which we will never stay there again due to this) and we had some two legged visitors two nights in a row.

First night they made off with a cooler loaded with beer and some other small items. We never lock a Jeep with a soft top, since someone will just slice the top.

The second night, not sure if it was the same two guys, but they got a lesson in special warfare military training. It was friggin ugly, and I will leave it at that. Pretty sure they have not taken anything since....

Recently, as of Sept of 16, we were out on the Colorado western slope for a week or so. The last flippen night we stayed in Grand Junction and we were hit hard. Our friends that come out from the East coast every year got hit hard. Someone got in the back of my truck with softopper and two of my other buddies trucks with these style of tops. I didn't lose anything except some stanky underwear in a garbage bag. The others lost around 1500.00 combined.

This was also the decision factor in everyone in our group moving to 1 ton diesels and buying large toy haulers and enclosed car hauler gooseneck trailers. Sucks we live in a world like this.
