Motel at Mundy. 5 miles from camp. Someone’s recommended a bbq place not far. And if you’re entertaining, others will offer up beer. So….

Is this place campfire friendly? I understand the whole tread lightly, take more than you bring, but fire rings? Or gas stoves?

could i tag along the harder trails on a dirtbike?

No dirt bikes on T2S runs— not the purpose, and organizers work really hard with local forestry and other stakeholders to ensure we can keep this event happening, with stellar trail runs, no damage, and no injury collisions. If you bring a dirt bike for camp, or fire trails, or exploring on your own, away from T2S runs, all good.

I know someone warned you about your tires but I disagree, based only on my own experience: I drove my 2WD 2.5 gen all over Anza Borrego and several runs in Big Bear on the OEM Michelins. Aired down, they were very capable. But I grew up driving 2WD vehicles off road and in ice and snow. If you have not driven your truck enough off-road to know how it handles in various conditions, then I’d suggest you stick to the trail advice given above. Make friends and ride shotgun on anything challenging. Our trucks have enough clearance stock that, with tires aired down and 4 x 4 activated, most everything will be accessible if you know how to pick a line to keep all four tires in contact with the ground.

The campfire question will depend on what the current forestry conditions are at the time of the event, and subject to change depending on conditions.

Even when campfires are prohibited, typically self contained gas stoves are allowed.

Ive been exploring. With and without backup, but not an organized run through real trails. I know when to call it, most of the time.

on my trail i move the big rocks, but theres more mud here than there, so i can slip more and break less.

i’ll probably bring beers and try to be a tagalong. Until i get an idea of what to expect. Just like new roads on a motorcycle. The first time is the most important practice.

I’m not sure what tires @robabeatle runs, but they didn’t look very all-terrainy and his truck did perfectly fine going up some steep loose stuff on the local mountain. Same thing before I got Ko2s on the 4runner, I had stock Bridgestones, aired down, they will crawl up a lot of stuff!

I’d also like to say, it would be great to meet more of you guys and gals from here in Sedona. It was great to meet and drive some awesome miles with @des2mtn we even had dinner! It was also nice to briefly meet @Sunnier at the registration table, sorry my boys keep me occupied most time.
It was a lot of fun and I hope to keep it a regular destination on my calendar; everyone has those “friends” that go to EDC every year. Be the friend that goes to T2S every year!

2021 was very tame in my eyes. There is a lot of room, but you will be closer than expected to neighbors. I loved it, got to hang out and meet local people that I hadn’t met yet @AZBoatHauler

That's exactly how I feel, it would be very cool if more of the first gen crew can make it out. I'm just as excited to see all my friends from last year as I am to run the trails.

I went back to the first post. It sounds like we don't have exact dates yet. Is that right? What sort of camping is it? Are we going #2 in the woods or do they have bathrooms? How's the temperature there that time of year?

The temps should be way more enjoyable than in October(in the mid to lower 30s at night) and they had porta potties to do your business in. What type of camping? Some people bring trailers, but they don’t “encourage it” if that makes sense haha it’s mainly tent camping all around the outskirts of a big area that your not supposed to drive or camp on. Lots of spots and space but everyone is kinda all over the place, that’s also why they have “zones” Vegas if you don’t sleep at night, the might party, might not party zone, and the bird watcher, quite time at 730pm zone, sunny described it way better! We stayed in the might party zone……….. we partied a little bit

Dispersed dry camping. There's a huge wooded area camp is at and it sprawls. Last time around it was planned that there was a "Las Vegas" area, "May-or-may-not party area" and "shh I'm here for nature".

We chose to camp in the "May-or-may-not party area" and just drove over to the party area when we wanted.

The organizers worked to have Port-a-Pottys available last time but always good to be prepared? Idk

So temps at night down to the 40's maybe? My camping gear is good to around 40-45. Just trying to get a feel for what I would need to buy. The "might party" sounds like my speed.

Should be upper 40s for the lows I’m hoping. I think you’d be fine with that gear you have. I’ll probably bring my bag shower, it gets dusty. But I might also try a new trick I saw recently, more a trucker bath, but using a new chemical sprayer from homies to clean your feet or even a quick shower

Are you wanting *all* T2S threads, not just best gen. The lack of others posting in here tells me they understand this is a first gens only thread. So…

The main point this year, is to direct everyone to the Tundras2Sedona.com site, so organizers only have to update one place. I’ll reach out to Kevin about when that main site will show this year’s dates.

I'll be driving to Toelle Utah around this time from Texas. Looks like it only adds about 4 hours to the trip. I'm rolling exactly like @Sirfive with stock size michelins though. Planned on taking a different truck for this trip though.

Now I'm contemplating the idea of canceling my 1st weekend in April "save Ironman 2022" and doing it over time and taking a week to come here. If everything goes right I should be 3" taller on 33" pizza cutters. I gotta see if work will let me do both.
