So I'm looking to replace my stock exhaust way to quit. I want an aggressive sound but not obnoxious. I'm working on a $300 budget I talked to the muffler shop who did my muffler on my truck I had before. He said he can do a muffler delete with y pipe single out the side with 4 inch tip like I wanted for $150 out the door or $250 for 18 inch magnaflow muffler out the side with 4 inch tip. From the videos I have seen the y pipe sounds alot better then the magnaflow. The guy said I would get better performance with the y pipe. How true is that?
    Thanks

Welcome to the forum ! Just a heads up around muffler deletes. They sound like sheet and are very obnoxious.

Go magnaflow if that can be done for your budget and you need it now. My recommendation is keep saving and pickup a Dirty Deeds system. It's always cheaper to do things correct the first time

With these trucks, your best bet is to go TRD or @dirtydeeds. But in your case, go with the Magnaflow. I'm willing to bet the straight pipe route would get on your nerves after a while.

I did my own for around 200, but I have access to a welder. Went with a Magnaflow 6” diameter, 14” body, 3” in/out. You can definitely hear it when you get on it, but very subdued at idle and cruise.9CF73030-CD27-4650-A598-A2D7BF71CF9F.jpg

I modded my exhaust on a budget: dual in single out muffler and dual head exhaust tip.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XQJZ3E?ie=UTF8

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078WNZTQV?ie=UTF8

I was right around $150 for parts and $150 for labor to weld in the new muffler and exhaust tip. Sounds deeper on startup and idle and not annoying when getting on the gas. Very happy with the results.

I did the same thing and kept my factory resonator. Beat bang for the buck, no drone and I save 700+ bucks.

    Too many, but not enough....
wait a while and keep checking the marketplace. A dirty deeds muffler comes up once in a while for around your budget. You wont regret it.

I had a Magnaflow for about 2 months.
It had the drone from hell on the highway.

Replaced it with a @ditydeeds BAM and his Helmholtz resonator and I've never been happier..
The BAM is a direct bolt on to existing pipes, with no cutting or welding.
You'll need to drill a 2 inch hole in the tailpipe to mount the resonator, but it's fairly easy.
