Auxbeam vs switch pro

Well I need switches. Who’s got experience with these 2

What are you adding?

 

Switchpro has a ton of settings
Auxbeam I think are just on and off

how much do you want to spend?

 

Switch pro setup if you wanna do it all out will be a grand. 600 for the switch pro, 100 for the mount plate, couple hundred for the upgraded wiring and battery fuses and terminals plus taxes. Not counting install if you don't do it yourself and not counting any tools you would need to do it yourself. 10000% worth it for me for a proven product that makes life a million times easier moving forward.

I have read more negative comments on the aux and quality but it's $100 so it's to be expected.

 

Option c: trigger controller

good middle ground between the two, been running it over a year with zero issues

 

I have the Auxbeam for a few months now. There's nothing fancy about it, but it works and is nice. I have zero complaints. The only thing I'd want is a strobe feature like the Switch Pros, but I'm not going to pay extra just for that.

 

I’m adding a few sets of lights for new front bumper and a winch eventually. But not sure how to operate the winch will probably buy a wire less one

 

I wouldn't say the switch pro is a grand, all of those "added costs" listed above is what's needed to run any accessories so isn't mutually exclusive to the switch pros. If anything the switch pro eliminates those costs due to not needing fuses or relays or extra wiring in most cases. As for the winch, you should be able to tie into the control port just like the handheld or wireless controller does to control it. I have a switch pros on my UTV and got it because it's extremely versatile and is internally fused and can pump a lot of power out. Can't speak to the auxbeam controller, but it sounds like a typical cheap Chinese unit. If you want quality go with the switchpros, if that doesn't matter to you and you just want switches go with the auxbeam.

 

I've got the 6 switch Auxbeam in my truck, had it in my 4runner before for 2+ years. Installed an 8x Auxbeam switch on my neighbors truck. They have worked just fine.

 

I got the voswitch on Amazon and it has a little more than on/off, can strobe etc. nothing fancy though

 

At SwitchPro has a hefty price tag and the main harness from the power module to the lights are not long enough to reach my panel area. I hate adding a few inches to a wire just to reach where it terminates, makes a mess if all 20 wires have to be extended

 

Those wires were never intended to be full runs. Depending on the load and the distance to the accessories(s) you run your own wires of appropriate gauge. It's why many attach those wires to a terminal block for ease of adding stuff.

 

a few inches short… missed it by that much. The 4 pin cable is much longer for some reason

 

Are you talking about the ign, trigger, tail light trigger wire, or the accessories you are attaching (like bajas, scene lights, etc)?

 

I am talking about the 20 pin connector. The triggers, blue and white are all fine.

Switch Pro is a small mom & pop business down in San Diego. When I've called I've spoken to the developers wife. They're friendly and helpful. I'd much rather give them my money, have no problems and support an American company as opposed to giving money to a faceless overseas conglomerate. Actually contacted Aux one time too. The response, as I recall, was curt and somewhat offensive. But, that's just my experience.

 

I think next time I wire a switchpros, instead of a tray, Ill just run all the power accessories wires into one of these and make the connections in there.

 

Nice and compact, what's the amperage rating?

 

I don't think it's even rated because each connection is on a single post, at least I haven't seen any amp ratings on these.

 

The other thing you could do is run the wires into an empty box like this, and just splice them together like switch pros wants you to do anyway. Gives you a place to hide the not connected yet wires and hides the connections as well.

 

I don’t mind spending my money there but they were not interested in selling a longer cable. Could be an option when you buy. My total was 32” needed so not even 3 feet

 

That looks like a nice box, where did you find that one? The 9100 I had on a terminal block because the wires determined which switch it went to but the RCR-Force 12 is programmable

I made a tray with terminal blocks as well but, I think it could be simpler...

 

Doesn't the universal Switch Pro come in like 7 different harnesses lengths?

 

If they do then I was shut down immediately when I asked. I was told they could not do that and I offered to pay. Funny the high amp wires are much longer than the lower amp wires and all part of the same harness or at least end up in the same harness

 

with the exception of the trigger inputs, all outputs are same length of 14 awg TXL wire.

If you want a “seamless” install, the connector is a Molex MX 150 Sealed connector and you can depin, and create your own pigtails if desired?

I want to be helpful here, just not following along with what the issue is here?

 

I was not interested in adding 3” of wire to each of them. I asked for that from SwitchPros and that would void my warranty I was told

 

interesting, because in-order to pass the control panel cable into the cab, the instructions tell you to de-pin the 4 pin controller cable.

 

I ran my controller up the the overhead console and have a fair amount of extra loom above my headliner. Granted, my switchpro is mounted near the firewall. Is yours mounted by the headlight?
