So I put a deposit on my tundra December 10th at my local dealership. The truck was already allocated to them. Was told the truck was 15-20 days out. Truck made it to port January first and has not moved since. The Toyota website used to say available February 14th check today and now it says available march 9th. The truck was built back in November. I try to be patient but this is getting crazy. Dealer says they don’t know what’s going on. Is anyone else having this problem?

If on QC hold it would say QC hold like the rest. I would think anyways. It says absolutely nothing. I would rathe a truthful answer instead of getting the run around.

    I understand that

this entire marketing campaign, truck roll out and qc problems hasn’t exactly been Toyotas finest moment , more like a train wreck

my dealer reached out and wanted to buy my truck the other day and said I wouldn’t be able to even test drive a new for a long time , gee let me sign up for that, lol.

    these people are nuts

sorry they haven’t told you the truth but it’s a smart bet they are fixing problems and also production got cut and it’s a clusterfuck with entire thing

Back in 1992 after waiting for 6 months Toyota told me to go to Long Beach and watch and see if it comes off the ship. Seems things have improved. Even if ever so slightly.

Sure, drop your dream truck and buy a 20 or 21 and immediately regret your decision when you see “your” truck driving down the opposite side of the road.

Wait for it…it’ll be worth it.

If I’m the OP and my current vehicle is operational I’m driving it for a few more years. Sit this current market out. Let the dumb dumbs get fleeced on the overpriced new vehicles of questionable build quality.

Not a dream truck just a work truck for me. Business is growing and I need a bigger truck than my Tacoma.

That’s probably a great idea if practical. Get a flat bed or utility trailer. You haul a lot more tools and gear that way.

I do service work and have about 15 stops a day. Trailer would be great if it was solo job sites but I’m all over town dealing with tourists and heavy traffic. 80% of the year.

Is your current vehicle operable for the time being? Why anyone is going for these trucks that doesn’t need a new truck is insane to me. Not just potential QC issues but just the inflated prices alone.

yes current truck is drivable and great shape. It’s a leased truck. I need a bigger truck for work. Figure why buy used when new is the same price.

Pure economics. Market Condition such that I traded a 17 4Runner TRD PRO receiving $5-8k more due to crazy market. So now I paid MSRP no ADM or add-on. So in normal market, maybe could negotiate $5-8k below MSRP for new Tundra. Seems like a wash and simple math. As for market rebound. Hope it’s a comfortable chair.

Yup, literally, if a work truck only & looks, image don’t matter…..obvious, but depending on where you park it, maybe some local issues with a cube van.. but if not… get the cube van

Yep, cube van with a lift gate or ramps. All the tools, maybe some room to work on crap out of the weather. Plus tools stay locked up and out of the weather.

If the cube van isn’t too big it will go anywhere a 1/2 ton pickup will.

Very possible. Either way for a work truck/van doing service calls a 1/2 ton pickup is a waste of money.

I’m not looking for a van. 1/2 ton truck is ideal for my line of work I don’t need a big box van. Not to mention this is manly a work truck but will be used for hauling a camper a boat and whatever else I may need it for. I’m in the pool business I carry around 2,000 lbs of chemicals. That’s not counting the pool vacuum that is on my hitch nor does that count if I have to replace any pool equipment. Like I said I don’t need brand new. When I can get new for around the same price as a used than why get used?

Shoot, the box truck becomes a rolling billboard and boom your business grows even more. Soon you have three others doing the work and making the money while you enjoy the hunny!

You got jokes not many want to work right now lol. if they do they demand 15-20an hour. I do quite well by myself and don’t have to worry about reliability. But yes you are correct if you can find good reliable help. I’m in with realtors and vacation property work comes quick and easy all around the table. I thought about a trailer I also thought about a box truck but in all reality a 1/2 ton truck has it beat all around the table. I don’t need a personal car and a work truck just get something I can use for both. Only time I use truck is for work or fishing and camping. The rest of the time it’s the wife’s suv that we use.

No dude you just laid out a bunch of reasons you could use a real work vehicle instead of a 1/2 ton truck.

For starters you carry around 1 ton of chemicals, which exceeds the payload of a lot of 1/2 tons including the Tundra. Then you also have a pool vacuum, and equipment to repair pools as well as parts. You’re already in need of more capacity.

Yeah bro, a cube van or some sort of vocational truck is how you really grow your business and make your life easier. You can advertise with one too, and it sends a different message to your customers. None of your customers or potential customers are going to be impressed with a fancy new 1/2 ton that cost you $60,000. Quite the opposite. They’re going to wonder if they’re paying you too much money. You start rolling in a well maintained cube van/vocational truck with a business logo, and contact information you are not only showing you’re serious about your craft, you’re giving everyone with a pool who needs it cleaned and sees your rig a way to get in touch with you. More or less free advertising and new clients means more $$$ in your pocket.

Plus a cube van/vocational truck with ramps or a lift gate makes your whole day more efficient. You got 2,000 lbs of chemicals? Cool story. Grow your business and you’re gonna need a lot more than that. A 1/2 ton truck gives you no room to grow, cube van on a commercial frame with big axles will laugh at over double the quantity of chemicals, spare pool parts, and tools. Plus you got ramps or a lift gate built in. Now you can put chemicals and stuff on a dolly, and quickly, safely, and efficiently roll that right off the truck to where it needs to go. Working out of a pickup bed is dumb as hell in comparison. You got 15 pools a day now? Higher efficiency carrying more stuff, with an easier to work rig will let you add more in the same amount of time. That equals more $$$ in your pocket.

Plus they cost less than a 1/2 ton, which keeps more $$$ in your pocket.

So is this truck to make money with or are you just fucking around with a hobby business ?

    Roger that.

OP don’t buy a Tundra at all. Payload is insufficient for your needs.
