Keep it on low speed when retracting the jack or else you’ll over heat it and it’ll seize, ask me how I know.

Needs a grease zerk. Wished I'd thought of that when i had that new one for the V6. Could have plumbed a short tube out fie easy access if there's enough metal to Tao threads for the zerk

What's reckless in a residential? I've done 20 over the limit before.

15 or more over the posted limit can be called reckless here. It's up to the officer to decide what to call it. In my case it was just after 5am and nobody was around. If I was rude to him he probably would have ruined my day but I'm always friendly to cops.

Thats insane. 15 over is typical on the highway and interstate here. I'm not sure if that differs for doing 15 over in a residential.

Only guy I know who got picked up for reckless driving was doing 108 mph on the breakdown lane.

Yup. I think its one of those things they only press if they want to. Around here 90 on the highway is the norm. The side road to the next city you'll see 75 in a 55 all day and the cops don't pull you over. They only get alerted if they see you passing people.

In a lot of places, it's at the discretion of the officer. I think here in GA, it's an automatic, once you exceed a certain number.

We have similar in Atlanta proper. If you get caught with green, you either get a cheap ticket or get booked. If you're an asshole or someone's not happy, it'll be the latter.

I’ve come to find out that Nm state police are somewhat lenient and their fines are wayyyyy cheaper than any other state I’ve been caught in. I was doing 80-90 in a 55 down a hill, I think the ticket was under 120$!

I got busted doing 87 in a 55 on a 2 lane road. I was courteous to the officer and took responsibility. I think my approach may have been somewhat refreshing. He did me a favor and wrote 70. I think it's actually 16 miles over that hurts in CA.

The only place I got unlucky was Orlando, and this one time here in ATL in bumper to bumper traffic when I had to drop a deuce like a MF in rush hour traffic and passed three cars using the shoulder right at an exit (it was an emergency) and a trooper wrote me up for using an emergency lane in a non-emergency. I actually prarie-dogged that pair of boxers and ended up chucking them. Dude had the nerve to tell me, "don't worry, it's a municipal ticket, won't cost much", it required a mandatory court appearance and I think it put me back almost $400.

A lot of the local PD know me because I've worked with them or someone they work with voluntarily, but there's also not exactly many places to go ape around here that would necessitate the extra chatter. ATL has cracked down pretty hard on 'street racing' during the last two years, and that's really left to wide interpretation IMHO as to "what" street racing may be. I've heard as little as revving your engine at a light to provoke others can be considered street racing. That shit is best left for the track anyway.

You should ask the local PD, which is cheaper, a speeding ticket, or a relief in public ticket, and go from there.
This is also why I took two poops every morning before work when I drove 300+miles round trip every day- I know that excuse doesn’t hold up to well “I had to poop”

Correct me if I'm wrong but indecent exposure from defecating in public looks a lot worse on your record than speeding.

Oh, unless that guy was smell-deaf, there's no doubt he caught a whiff of what I was putting out. I'm not shitting you (if it was back then, I couldn't say that), it was pretty damn obvious. I knew this one guy who peed next to a 99¢ theatre I worked at for a summer job, and a woman and his daughter rounded the corner, couldn't even see anything other than his backside, and he's on a list. Rush hour gridlock and my ass hanging out pooping ... the risk of who could see and what charge I could cop ... I'll take the $400 hit and call it a day.

I'm thinking he might've been sarcastic. If it would've been APD, they've seen worse from homeless dudes. This was GSP, dude was probably pissed he was stuck watching bumper to bumper traffic from a cubby at an on-ramp. I know I would've been.

I don't think homeless people care about their record when getting arrested means a free meal and a place to sleep so they don't have to stand in line at the homeless shelter and hope they got there early enough to score a bed.

These days in California, you don't need to be homeless to not care about your record.

True. There are a lot of people who don't think before they act. Just like there are a lot of homeless people who do care about their record and make rhe effort to get out of their dire situation. I'm mostly talking about those who are perpetually homeless due to drug or psychological issues.

These days, there's a lot of things to make someone feel like there's not much left to lose...

But then there's also a growing crowd of people with the money and connections to pay their way out of anything.

Sorry Bubba, don't go! I'll shutup!

The lunch thread has been all over the place. Probably best just to dodge entirely.

EDIT: Crap. This is in the "what'd you do today" thread. I think we all need to shutup.

Oh - and I ranger'd brake fluid on my truck today.

I wasn't making a statement on homelessness. Just an observation that regardless why you might have criminal legal concerns, those concerns are greatly diminished these days.

Got the UBJ's out and some new ones pressed back in. I bought what was supposed to be correct honda BJ kit, but it didn't work for my application for whatever reason. Pulled the steering rack, had a living hell getting the shaft off the knuckle. Disassembled and reassembled the coil overs with some new shocks and longer top hat bolts for the small lift. Was hoping to have it all buttoned up today but ran out of time.

Lucky to have a buddy with such a killer shop! Organized chaos though for sure.

It's pretty bad, sucks trying to find stuff. He has been working on cleaning up and organizing the steel building. The stuff in the background of the vise is everything pushed to one side of the building, so not as bad as it looks. The picture of the clean floor and the truck is in a detached garage he just built. It's climate controlled so way better to wrench in there versus the steel building.
