We are well into a run of about 30 days where the average temperatures have been floating between -23 and -30 degC.... and my truck is not blowing any heat onto the floor!!!!

There don't seem to be any issues with it blowing (hot or cold) on or switching between the dash and windshield vents but it won't blow onto the floor.

I've searched around this forum and read a few threads on blend door/actuator issues, but none were on the specific issue i described (heat works fine everywhere except on the floor).

I've watched a few youtube vids on accessing the blend actuator and it seems pretty straight forward to get there, but again, i didn't find any videos addressing the same issue i'm having, so..... i'd love to hear from someone who had, diagnosed and fixed the same issue i've described...(heat works fine everywhere except on the floor).
Does this sound like a bad servo motor, maybe a gear or shaft broke, or wha???

    Thanks all!

the blend door or actuator doesn't have a preferred fail spot. but I would start with checking cabin filter then moving onto testing voltage at the switch and switch resistance while on feet position. if that all checks out move to check the voltage at the actuators. :)

    thanks man!
I haven’t posted to the “Welcome” thread yet but I’ll get to it.
Been on the TacomaWorld forum for a while but my ‘07 DCSB kicked the bucket and a pretty good deal came along on this Tundra before I could find another 2ndGen Tacoma.

Yeah, guess it’s as good a time as any to check the cabin filter, but I don’t see how that would affect the floor blower specifically

I’m sure I can figure out the test points and which actuators to look at… but any chance you or anyone know of a thread or video that goes over this so I can save some time.

    thanks

The only reason I mention as a first step to check to cabin filter, is for one its easy but if in the off chance it's clogged enough to not want to move air as much the hot air wants to rise and the pressure difference could cause a slow to none flow down ward. Its a slim chance but 5 seconds and if it is would be a super easy and cheap fix. ;):)

I just replaced my cabin filter today at 11 months and only 12K miles and it was completely clogged. I decided to go with a more free flowing one like I do with my house. I can tell you the increased air flow was way over 50%

Check the filter. But m y issue was EXACTLY what you are describing.

This pic below was the offending part...the shaft that goes to the blend door to open and close it (for the floor heat). The kept asking if I had any abnormal smells (dead mouse, etc.) or that maybe something has fallen in from the front windshield dash openings (acorn, pen, etc.).

    Nope, snapped shaft....

Any pics or insight as to the replacement process? I have a similar issue and suspect I'm in the same boat here (although I have some nice new warm winter boots I got for Xmas :D).

Did it do all the "regular" stuff it should? Mine sounds fine, I can hear the motor whirring to make the change, but then the airflow in the dash just sort of dies down and there's very little on the floor.

On mine had no airflow to the floor. Everything worked out fine.

They had to take the entire HVAC unit out, which required completely removing the dash down to the firewall.

My issue wasn't winter. It was the floor heating up in the summer. Really uncomfortable on 16 hour trips.

I had a similar problem. I corrected by doing 2 things. First changed cabin air filter. 2 I realized I accidentally kicked my driver side duct off the exhaust port of my HVAC unit. It was a 2 minute fix of reattaching duct and my feet are roasty toasty again. I had a long thread and about 100+ people told me to wear wool socks. Went down the rabbit hole of actuator doors and dash removal. Ultimately realized the driver side duct came off one day when I was taking a nap and mistakenly kicked it offo_O
