That’s an awesome project to have done with your daughter. My boys are always stealing tools, soon they will be handing me tools, soon after that they will be asking me what tools they need; can’t wait!

My son is 4 years older than my daughter, he is 30.
He was never interested in helping fix things around the house, yard work, stuff like that.
The daughter was the opposite, she helped with everything and wanted to learn.

My son always said "I'll hire someone to do whatever", he didn't get that from me.
Fortunately getting the degree and job he has, he can pay people to do the stuff he doesn't want to do..

Does your daughter still have the same drive?
I’m sure it’s stubbornness from my dad, but I’d rather just do stuff myself, I’m sure I could pay someone, but that would be like paying someone to get your mail, half the fun is checking the neighborhood while your walking out to the box, I won’t give that up!
Mine are still young, so not quite to that helping age like your daughter was, but the interest is there, I hope!

Lmao, your son sounds exactly like my brother-in-law… the running joke is that when my wife and I got married, my father-in-law got the son he always wanted.

I've been having a hell of a good time today. Toilet has been giving me problems for a couple of weeks but I just could not figure out WTF was going on. So, I bought a new one and went to replace it. This is the fun I found, fucking tree roots.

The landlady for the apartment I rent for work just came by to do her 6 month inspection. She starts looking around and I told her that I moved the grow op out earlier today. She paused and looked at me for a second before laughing a little too loudly, signing off on the inspection and leaving. I just chuckled, thanked her for her time and wished her a good night. I don't think she knows whether or not I was serious. :anonymous:

I Googled it, actually somewhat common. Plumbers call it a horse tail. the roots grow up between the slab and the sewer pipe, through the wax ring and down into the pipe. Also found root killer (copper sulfate) that you put down the toilet to kill any remaining roots. Also, pour the granules between the wax ring and the slab/floor to prevent new roots coming up.

We had a hard freeze last night. Neighbor called me early to ask if we had water. I sighed and told him to open up all of his faucets and hope for the best. After about an hour, he called back and told me they were all working again. Then my bro-in-law calls me to ask if he can stop dripping his faucets. I told him "Yes." Then, as I'm getting off of the phone, he says "Oh, one more thing. I can't get the outdoor faucet to turn off." I asked him why he turned it on and he said "I didn't." So I got in the car, drove the 4 blocks to his rental and his hard was full of water. I turned it off at the customer shutoff and Mrs. Bandito called his landlord. It was an old cast-iron faucet and it cracked at a "T". Met the plumbers there later and my suggestion to the landlord was just to cap it off. He's going to remodel anyway. No point in fixing something he's going to tear out in a few months. Hopefully he doesn't try to charge my brother-in-law for it busting.

Day got better. We went to Costco up in Pflugerville (town North of Austin) and I met a 93-year-old lady who looked like she was maybe in her late 70's. Her secret to staying young was that she "Never grew up." Turns out her husband is 97 and was one of the original Navy Seals out of Coronado. He was home with the grandkids but I would have loved to have shaken his hand. Really neat lady - I asked her to tell her husband "Thank you" and then I thanked her because it couldn't have been easy on her either.

Then we drove up to Round Rock to check out Round Rock Donuts. I wanted to get big donut frosted with chocolate and sprinkles but Mrs. Bandito said "No." :( So I got a glazed one. :)

    IMG_0781.jpg

That puppy is gonna be my breakfast tomorrow.

I also enjoyed a nice phone conversation with @gosolo - you all need to stop being so cool because I don't want to start liking people.

Getting up early to smoke a 13 lb pork butt so I need to head to bed. This turned out to be a good day. I hate for it to end.
