Yeah, I had some of my own (it wasn't a ton, but every oil change or so I'd be 1 to 1.5 quarts low). It seems to have seriously kicked up around 2018 or so; not sure why.

Then again, Silverados/Sierras have done that forever due to the AFM stuff. LOL

I was told today my expected delivery is a month later approx. = 4 months before I see it.
However I am not overly concerned as the longer they take, the better chance of them ironing out some of the quality issues such as waste gate etc. For me, there is no point going to another brand as they all have delivery issues!

just be calm and don't rush to decisions while your pissed. don't want to get screwed twice!!

but what a crock of shit, dealers can make or break a vehicle purchase and ownership period for sure.

Didn’t Ford corporate release a statement about exactly this situation and how that wasn’t going to fly? Or was that GM?

Either way I’d get your experience in writing and put it out everywhere. I’d also mention the part where Ford corporate said you were SOL. They probably wouldn’t like that press considering they sent a letter to dealers saying that exact situation wouldn’t fly… (again, if that was Ford).

So I was looking through my terms and when I ordered it, it said by placing an order deposit I am entering a contract to the dealers sales price. And since the dealer accepted the order it’s pretty iron clad. But this is too much energy for me. I find it dumb I am fighting to pay $80k. So I’m just going to throw the towel in and allocate that $80k to a sequoia.

If it’s a contract, then they are bound to it as well, right? Your screenshot with 0.00 markup should be binding on both sides I would think.

That's where they are to enter it. Lots of folks on the F150 forums saw 20-30k in that spot. So if the markup was there I could have called Ford and moved my reservation before ordering. But because I ordered I'm now binded to that dealer. And they deceitfully left the MSRP on that screen to get my order and are all of a sudden adding it.

I explained to Ford that they are literally committing fraud by withholding the markup on the order screen to kidnap my allocation. The markup after ordering is like a ransom. Ford literally said there's nothing we can do. They said they could transfer me to some specialist dept. All that dept said to do was make a new Lightning reservation.

At this point I don't want the truck but I do want to tank Ford reputation. I'm curios if Tim TFL would want to publish my story.

I thought I loved my F150 V8 Platinum, but couldn't put up with all of the issues any longer. Loving my new Tundra so much more. Honestly surprised me because the Ford was a very nice truck (when it was working).

Failed oil pump lead me to replace engine at 150,000km. Lots of other issues, but that was the straw that broke the camel's back. So happy to be back in a Toyota. The Tundra is really nice...just so refined and smooth that you almost don't notice it.

Here's the thing. The dealer that is trying to get me to trade in my 2018 lost me when he said the 2022 was "so" ......quiet and smooth.
Mine has a Borla exhaust - Borla made the exhaust for Toyota. Its loud only when on it, there is no highway drone, but its bad and mean its so not a 2022.
DrZoldberg had a TRD Pro with same exhaust pretty much.
    Just saying...

I have found 2 Ford dealers within 10 minutes of me with trucks to test drive and no ADM. Actually found a Lariat just like I want but missing the sunroof I gave serious thought to making an offer on.

I am holding off another 1-2 months to check lot availability as I am not a fan of special ordering. Every transaction I have ever done was Wrapped up in a couple hours with trade and purchase off the lot. But if I can’t at least find a Tundra to drive by then Toyota may drop off the list. I feel like by the end of March I may actually be able to walk onto a Ford lot and find a truck I like and get it at or maybe even below sticker.

FYI Ford just scaled back production, including the F150.

And Toyota still running one shift in SATX

You won't get a trans cooler.
    You won't get tow hooks.
You won't get a driver side "oh shit" handle.
You aren't guaranteed a monroney sticker.
You'll probably have to pay 20k over msrp.

Did you tell them which dealer, so they can drag them through the mud, because they will.

I plan to call Monday to ford corp for the lightning dept. I found a dealer with an allocation slot who is willing to accept the order.

Good luck, Dr. Z. Sounds like the dealer lost some credibility with you, and maybe whoever reads the TFL story, too. An alternative would have been inviting a film crew from Channel 5 with a consumer advocate spokesperson to the dealer's place about 8:00 AM Monday. That would get a few people to sneak out the back!

If the dealer's story was that it was Ford's idea: high demand, low supply, and THEY pushed the bait & switch on the poor dealer, that's one thing. But it sounds like the sales boys thought this one up in some smoke-filled room where they were making fun of how dumb the customers were or something. I just realized you would have been cutting a check for $100,000.

Figures. Strong likelihood towards the beginning of April I’m gonna bite the bullet and get in line for the Ford. Gonna take awhile but they’ll build what I want in the exact color I want that I configured online at my perfect price point. It doesn’t appear I’m getting close to the Tundra I want without accepting some bundle or another I really don’t want to pay for.

13 years ago when I got my Crewmax I was in my late 20s and not picky. Just happy to have a cool new truck so I picked one out of a long row that was reasonably well equipped and in my price range. I am in my 40s and more discriminating now. I want a specific list of things I didn’t really care about then, at a price point that isn’t unnecessarily inflated by things I don’t want. Everyone’s process is frustrating right now but I think I need to be able to go the special order route.

The tried, true, tested powertrain that was the heart of my Crewmax is gone now, making me feel less inclined to put up with Toyota’s system.

I’m working on a lunar pro now. You want to sell yours?

but I think I might do a lunar TRD sport until sequoia launches and that will be more permanent.

I like to try different things. All in all I’ve got 4 reservations made. But I’ll prob lose the lightning
