    Well son of a bitch.

Clearly a 2022 Tundra turbo failed when the truck was approaching a RR grade crossing. Stalled out, got hit by the train and derailed the locomotives and cars.

    Damn turbos causing train wrecks.

No pretty sure it’s what I said. Clearly if you drive a pickup with a turbocharger you’ll get hit by a train and die.

You're telling me not only will I get the excitement of driving my new fancy best tundra ever, but also the daily exhilaration of skirting death? If I hadn't already thrown my wallet at the dealership I would now! May 24 cannot come any sooner.

Yep it’s the most exciting product to hit the market since Lawn Darts. Fun for the whole family with the creeping blackness of death stalking your every move.

Bonus if one Tundra with a failing turbo hits another Tundra with a failing turbo at the moment both turbos implode, the resulting singularity will form a black hole and end our solar system.

At least that is what 2.5 Gen Tundra owners have told us, and they have no reason to make things up.

Not sure this could count as safety. Brakes that don't work or accelerators stuck would be better examples over limp mode.

Can't decide what to get. A turbo tundra that might fail or a Tahoe with lifters made of paper mache.

If you’re not in dire need of a new vehicle I’d sit this one out for another 10 months.

Good advice. I'm going to wait it out unless my dream build Tundra magically appears at the local dealer.

It is funny all the hard core people in here talking sh!t about how buying a Chevy was dumb, and 6 months after release this place looks just like a GM forum.

My 6.2 Trail Boss has been an amazing truck. I never really understood brand hatred.

The elephant in the room that no one is addressing... Toyota could have avoided most of this mess by sticking with their tried and true V8 engines. Just sayin...

Until they have a random production issue in a V8 and everyone goes on a witch hunt regardless?

I'd agree, but the difference is that their V8 has a long history in Tundras. This twin turbo engine doesn't. I'd be interested to know how many customers even wanted this twin turbo V6 over the V8 in the first place.

Personally, I'm not convinced that the TTV6 is better overall than the V8. Ford did this with their Raptors, moved from V8s to TTV6s and they lost a lot of customers over it.

I'm looking to trade in my '16 and of course I'll be buying Toyota, but I'm thinking I'll be getting a '20 or '21.

I did. Old V8 was hideously inefficient. 25 years ago I'd have wanted the V8. But that ship has sailed.

Ford losing about 10 Raptor customers is not going to bother them. They sell millions of the V6 units.

Inefficient how? I'll give you that it's a gas guzzler and then some, but I've had zero engine issues with my '16, going on 100k miles.

You answered your own question when you wrote "I'll give you that it's a gas guzzler and then some".
    That's known as inefficient.

    Exactly where I was at....
Reeeeally like those Yukon’s, Tahoe’s....but dealers were INSANE with pricing.
(If ya can find one....one, you can afford...crazy)

    Preowned not much better...
Caved with the Toyota tradition of quality and durability. Owned several Toyota’s...

    We shall see.

Having driven the truck for a week now, yes, they should have kept the V8 — and slapped two turbos on it.
