I have a pretty long drive (25 miles each way) and my threshold is about $5-6 a gallon

ETA I'd never get rid of the Tundra. Just might not commute in it.

Damn.. I remember moving from Phoenix to Reno and that Shell gas station was 7$ a gallon back in '15.. I needed gas, but I was sure I could make it way further for something more convenient..... Either way..
My Tundra is my war horse and my back up.. My SC400 is down cooking my cats, while my Celica chills with 2 flat tires... and a pending engine swap.....

Yep. I remember those days. I either had to come to reality and accept it or move. I moved since it was very easy for me at the time. Now...not so much (same situation you and many others are in).

Kinda wish I would have stayed and now sold/moved. :D

My Tundra is my ONLY driver, I don't even like driving the wife's Caddy on the weekends.
    We ALWAYS take my truck.

My 'commute' is 14 miles each way.
Even if it was 40 miles each way, which I considered last year, I wouldn't drive anything else.

It costs a little more to fill the tank, IDGAF..

It costs more to buy the same groceries I've always bought.
What am I gonna do, stop buying food? :eek2::rolleyes::D

Fuel cost doesn't matter to me. Maybe about 30 years from now, my Tundra will be passed down to a deserving family member.:fingerscrossed:

When I bust ~$300/month on commute gas. I could go through my company and lease one of our EVs for a few years for that much. I’d beat that thing up to and from work and use the Tundra every other day of the week. Don’t see that habbening though. I’m a simple man with simple tastes.

I'm with the majority here. Currently paying about 3.45/gallon, but all things considered, that doesn't hurt like it used to in 2005 when prices were this high and I made 1/4 the money.

Different lifestyle these days and the Tundra affords us other opportunities like hauling a camper and traveling with the kids. Hard to put a price tag on that and we'll do whatever we have to in order to give them the experiences that all allows.

That all said, my commute is 25 miles RT and I telework 2-3 days a week, so I'm fortunate to not really need to worry about this.

My wife commutes more than I do so we'd likely get rid of her 20mpg SUV and get her a 35mpg hybrid or van instead. That would probably require 6/gallon to expedite the decision.

Yup. The barrel of oil went over 90 this week. This weeks price jump has not been reflected at the pump yet.

    Why 93 Octane?
When I think about what it costs to fill the tank and then what hard goods can bought with that money instead - that makes me take a step back.

I think 2022 with people working less from home will bring the gas issue closer to the front.

I go back and forth between 91 and 93 octane. The v8 seems to purr better with premium fuel.

2 mile commute, still have my 94 F150 just for the times I want to drive a manual. 38 gallon tank is about the same fill up as my two 13 gallon tanks.

My commute is about 20 minutes each way, but I don't do a ton of driving outside of that, so it doesn't kill me.

I do plan on turning it into a weekend warrior once it's paid off. At that point, I'll probably get some type of EV for my daily commute.

It will have to go quite high before I stop driving my truck. 4.5 miles each way says so.

Bought me a $3500 Scion TC with the last stimi check. It's sporty with some rattles and it uses 1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles. Overall, I don't mind driving it. Insurance and upkeep pretty well matches my gas savings at these prices. I don't feel bad as I could unload it for $3500+ at any time and my Tundra has appreciated since I bought it.

Could be worse. We could have the highest income and sales tax rates in the country...oh and gas prices....but we don't.

None. Truck is paid off. No price of gas is going to make up the $550 a month I'm saving on the truck payment. Now when I buy my next truck is 3 or 4 years, I will be happy to get better mileage.

I'm 100% WFH, I have been averaging a tank a month. I get 1.00 off from supermarket savings and .20 from using gas buddy's card.

The 1/2 tank currently in my tank came 1/21 at a station just inside the AZ border with Ca, when I came back from L.A.

I don't care how much gas is.

This is my local area now. (Premium) I have Viktor G's tune for premium.

We did almost the same move. Got rid of my 2014 tundra and got a 2022 CRV hybrid. Going from about $75 per week to $25 per week is pretty good

It could be worse for sure. It’s all relative. I have a lot of family in TX. For reference, my property taxes are are 5200. The same value of home in TX would run me around 12,000. That’s a significant amount of money.
Every state gets their money from some source.
