I had a friend quickly trade a four door jeep once he realized what a poor road trip vehicle it is for a family of 4. Half ton crew
Cab will spoil you, perfect road trip vehicle for a small family when equipped with a bed cover.

    Yeah I’ll bet, especially a 2 door.

Hard to tell a guy the route to go here. At this point the F-150 is the known platform, but Toyota is the more proven manufacturer.

I am personally offended at the price of 1/2 ton trucks these days, but I’ve driven my current Tundra for 15 years.

So if you’re a trade in every 3-5 years kind of dude I say just get the Ford F-150 and enjoy your savings. If you’re a keep a truck longer term guy, buy a Tundra.

    Thanks.

I want my next vehicle to have the things I want so I CAN keep it the next 10-15 years and not keep trading in it, maintenance etc|

I was looking at the new Seqouia and I love it but that will probably cost as much as some of the Tundras lol

The Sequoia will probably end up costing more than the Tundra by a good bit since it is hybrid only. Plus it has more “stuff” inside to drive up costs.

Sequoia probably gonna be 55k just to get in the door and 60-plus decently equipped except you won’t find them without port or dealer installed bundles that put them at 70-plus.

I think all things considered, this is the best advice. way too many issues right now with the new tundra.

I think I'll cancel my tundra order and move it to the seq. F150 is doing fine and the Tundra is delayed to around my Lightning delivery and Seq launch anyways.

If you were towing something more substantial longer distances(a travel trailer in the Rockies) i would steer you away from the V8 and towards the Tundra. But in your case just go with whatever you like better.

Gee, I wonder why you would quickly need to trade it in within 2 years, with far more depreciation. Why would people be willing to pay less for a used Ford than Yota?

I had a very early reservation (1st day) but ending up cancelling my order because of the games Ford allowed dealers to play. I'm not paying a 10k markup, especially when Ford admitted they are going to completely revamp the Lightning in a few years, this is just to carry them over.

FORD announced this morning continued supply chain issues. (Stock down 6% premarket because of this).
Supply chain issues will be with us throughout the year.
Many parts needed (outside suppliers) are literally on big ships - like cruise ships. or they need to get on them.
Takes a long time to turn a cruise ship. 8^0
Once delivered, they remain at port - till picked up. Then rail and trucks.
Now we got truckers stopping supply chains with blockades - because it hurt where it counts - over mandated covid vaccine objections.
I do not see the Toyota parts issue being any better since Toyota relies on outside suppliers too.

Welp I'm glad I didn't cancel the Tundra yet.

Last night I ordered the Lightning, the dealer accepted it this morning. 4 hours later they called and said it's 20k ADM. I can't switch dealers since they accepted it. Called Ford and they can't do anything about it. I was told zero mark up at reservation. I was told zero markup at order. They waited until I ordered and accepted it to tack it on. I'm done with Ford because of that one dealer. What a piece of shit practice. There was a spot on the order form to display your markup, and it's fine, go ahead and mark it up. But I could have changed dealers before clicking submit. But since it said zero and they've been saying zero, I ordered it. Now they get a guaranteed built lightning off me.

So to OP fuck the F150, go get the Tundra.

I'd bet any amount of $ this is 100% the reason why they did it in the first place.

With that said...yeah, that's a total douche move. Dealers, at least, where I live wouldn't try that or else they'll lose all KINDS of sales.

this sucks bro. something similar happened to my friend few years back with audi R8 he ordered. dealers want u to walk away so they have it on lot. if you can i would buy it and flip just so they dont get to have it on the lot.

Im supposed to pic up my tundra build tomorrow, no mark up as of yet.... but i have a back up appointment at lexus later in the day, if they pull any shit i will walk out and buy the GX....GX is less expensive anyway! If what happened to you happened to me i would definitely be arrested, i would have freaked out and found the manager, at the very least id would be cuffed for harassment....probably assault.

Yup because if you look at the picture below there is a spot for "Difference from Total MSRP" and this is where the dealers add it in. If I saw the $20k there I could have called Ford and had my allocation sent to another dealer to order from. But since they said no markup for a year and there is no markup here and I ordered it, I'm SOL. They 100% wanted my guaranteed build so they could sell to the highest bidder. And they baited it the whole time. I'm honestly considering dumping my gas F150 for a marked up Tundra this weekend if they are on the lot.

Honestly I am not surprised at all, if you got the F150 forums, a lot of this type of stuff has been happening

The bronco rollout was just a money making scheme to get deposits, make interest, and take forever to release the damn thing

I get the markup . More power to them. I guess honesty is out the window these days. If it was on the form like it should have been, no problem I’d just move it to where my F150 got purchased. But they intentionally deceived. Next step if regional corporate doesn’t do anything I was going to see if I could completely cancel it and make them miss the allocation.

What is nice about being in Canada is that dealers are not allowed to mark up. We can price out the truck on toyota.ca, bring in the printed sheet and that is what we pay. However, I have to admit we get almost zero customization of trims, though the pricing for what we get at each trim level is decent.

Yeah, I personally am not one to absolutely lose my sh*t quickly when stuff doesn't go my way...but the way I see it, this kind of stuff has not only been going on for a hot minute w/r/t the pandemic, but if I'm not mistaken, dealerships have specifically been called out for doing this and their allotments have been cancelled. Were this to happen to me, I'd abso-f***ing-lutely cancel my order, sell my vehicle, and get into another one, even CONSIDERING the current economic atmosphere.

And honestly, it wouldn't even be because 'they ticked me off.' I owned a '13 F150 for 7 years, and it wasn't a huge piece of crap. However, it did have plenty of minor issues (seat squeak/clicking; media system was CRAP; rear windshield replaced 3x for defroster; valve body separator plate replaced for TSB; driver's rear door would not stay shut below freezing; and so on). More than that, though, on at least half of the issues, the dealership would say either "Characteristic of the truck" OR "We've never seen that before."

The last straw was when they replaced my rear windshield 2x and told me "That's the last time we'll replace it...next time you'll have to pay for it." I told them "Uh, no...the terms of the contract and the extended warranty say YOU will replace it, minus the deductible."

At that point I began to ask myself "If they're willing to treat me like this on basic stuff....what happens if I ever need bigger stuff done? What if it leaves me stranded? Do I trust them or the parent company?" I don't expect perfection from a dealership, but I DO expect them to stand by their word and not jerk me around and treat me like I'm a complete idiot.

As luck had it, a month or two after that, the pandemic hit and I got a huge opportunity to get the truck I wanted. :)

On a side note, @DrZoidberg, you might try hitting up Ford on FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc. I've gotten jerked around in the past with 4 different companies (HP, Lenovo, AT&T, and Windstream). I was respectful and took the normal course of action as far as I could...but soon as I realized I was getting nowhere, I took to social media, succinctly outlined what happened to me, and asked if this is how customers were treated nowadays.

In each of the four cases above, doing that got me traction right the heck away. In AT&T's case, the secretary for AT&T's VP personally called me and their office made the situation right. It's worth a try. :)

i contacted Ford corporate and was told I'm SOL since I submitted and confirmed the order. I said " I wouldn't have fucking submitted it if they had the markup in the contract but they didn't add until after." I did send this to Texas Attorney General. But at this point I don't want it anymore and I don't want my F150 anymore. I only found 1 on ground platnium but it's 4x2. Only 4x4 is a 1794 and it's not my style.
