I’m not sure when it got damaged. It could have been in at Icons storage or in shipping. Hard to say. It looked like the bow had been dropped and the wheel fell out. It has the QC label on it so I know at one point it was good.

I fully understand the situation the world is but when they tell me the wheel is on the way twice and never get back to me to tell me it’s actually not and then when I call the last time they say I now have to pay for it after the first two times they said they would just ship it out to me.

That’s what I eventually offered and the manager(Fred) said oh yeah we can do that. So that’s what we agreed on. Though I still haven’t received that either.

I’ll take a closer pic this afternoon. It is into the paint a bit but to me it looks like a straight on impact at the corner of that makes sense to you. Not like it dropped and slid but just dropped right at the corner and stopped. The edge is pushed up a bit also.

The wheels were supposed to be delivered on Sunday evening. We went out to eat Friday after work and when we got back to the house the 4 boxes were at my door. So no chance to inspect before the fedex guy left. If I would have been there then I would have denied the shipment in the first place.

    Ok I won’t sugarcoat either.

If your company screws up and the customer gets mad with you, you stop dealing with them? That’s what’s wrong with companies now. People like you.

i didn't say i stop dealing with them. i said when a customer attacks my staff i no longer lend a sympathetic ear.
I also just ordered new wheels a couple months ago that required shipping as well... One came in and 3 got delayed due to a landslide knocking out a major roadway... disappointing. I could have went wild and berated the company over something out of their control but knowing it would just make things contentious i just said "dang that sucks, let me know when they come in". For being cool they gave me a nice little deal and 2 months later they're on my truck. life goes on.
take it as constructive criticism or don't take it as anything but all i'm saying it's a lot easier on everybody if you don't get all emotional about superficial things.
Best of luck with your new wheel!

Once you said FedEx, to me Icon is off the hook for the damage. FedEx, in my experience, does things like drop guitar amps over my 4' gate to avoid opening it. Nearly every delicate item I've received from them has packaging telling the tale of rough handling. Whenever I get the option for UPS or even USPS I take them even if I have to pay.

I wouldn't say Icon is trash, you definitely had an unhappy experience. It sounds like their staff isn't the quickest to resolve issues, but they will resolve it for sure. I'm guessing their inventory comes in on boats and we all know the logistics on that. They may be waiting on confirmation of when they'll have a wheel to trade you before they can promise anything, which they should disclose to you.

By chance, is the scuffed part a removable trim ring? If so maybe they just need to send you a new ring. If it's the wheel thats unfortunate.

Keep in mind your wheels will get scuffed up when the tire guy gets a hold of them. Happens every time. Happened to me once right after a custom powder coat job.

I suspect that Fred took issue with you getting hostile with a female employee, as others have stated. The cable companies are notorious for allowing their customer service call center people get eviscerated over the phone and hiding behind their company policies. That's why I say "Can you please escalate me to a manager" immediately when I have an issue. Those people who answer the phones don't deserve to get the brunt of my anger for a company policy that they can't fix.

I bought an alpine usb / hdmi cable on Amazon. After tearing apart my dash and removing the head unit, drilling holes in the trim to run the cables and make a clean install, I found that the usb connection was loose and defective. It would only work intermittently after you wiggled the cable. I contacted the company (a HUGE car electronics company). I politely asked them to consider the fact that I would prefer not to tear apart my dash, uninstall the cable and put the dash back together only to return the cable, wait for it to be delivered and then have to tear apart my dash and reinstall the cable. I assured them I would send back the cable as soon as I received the new one. They said "Due to the cost of the product" ($55) they had to receive the defective cable first and then process a return (would take 7-10 days after receiving the cable). I offered to take a video of the problem and they essentially said they couldn't accept that since they couldn't guarantee it was actually my set up. I politely told them I was disappointed in the quality of the product and didn't agree with their policies. I could have easily paid for a new cable and installed it and waited for a refund of the defective cable but it was the principle of it for me. So I told them that I would be purchasing a cable from another vendor and will return their cable once the new cable arrived. So I ordered the new cable, received it in the mail, tore apart my dash, removed the defective cable and installed the new cable. I put the dash back together and it works perfectly. Then I packed up the old cable and generated the return. They won't get my business again. There should be an understanding from these companies that there are nuances to these strict return policies......sadly they have these in place because so many have taken advantage of them in the past. I get it, but I don't have to agree with it. But getting my blood pressure up and yelling at people for doing their jobs is a thing of the past for me. They're trying to make a living just like me. And they don't write the policies. Unless they're being a-holes, i often will say "I am directing this comment to your policy and not to you specifically - I understand you are doing your job."

That’s too much to read. Should have learned from my post. Just kidding I read your post.

I agree with you completely. I only started to get upset with the initial lady when she said there was nothing that could be done and that there was no manager on duty when I had literally just received an email saying the manager specifically said I had to pay for the shipping maybe 5min before the call. So I knew someone was there in management.

I also wasn’t willing to just have someone call back since the first 2 times they said they would do something I got blown off and nothing happened and I had to call back myself.

So if your company screws up and they justifiably get mad and yell at your staff for a screw up in your company you won’t want to help the customer out. Seems like you should go work at Icon. You’d fit right in. Apparently your management quality.

Life is an exercise in patience and understanding…sometimes I do good and other days I don’t. I hope that more times than not I give people the benefit of the doubt and hope the same when I screw up. If you learned a lesson about how to better deal with a similar situation in the future it may be well worth the experience. If not, that’s too bad. And the same goes for the company. (Full disclosure - I realize this is much easier said than done when it is not happening to you.)

There’s only a few of you that are saying I was wrong, obviously the most vocal also. Which is fine. Speak your piece. I’m listening. I don’t agree with you and think those that think I am wrong just have no back bone and are willing to let companies crap all over them and then will praise them on top of that. If that’s how you want things go for it. I’m not here to judge you on how you spend your money or convince you one way or another. This is just me voicing my opinion on a company and if those that read this want to buy from them then go for it. I’m not going to say you are dumb for doing so but you would be informed and made an educated decision. If someone reads this and decides not to do business with them then they did the same but was informed.

if you read through this thread there are several people that said this is very normal behavior for Icon and plenty of other threads about this company doing exactly what I said they did.

but hey I’m young and dumb so what do I know. I tell you what when I grow up and learn my lesson I’ll come back and praise you for your infinite wisdom. That sound good. Actually I’ll start now as a good faith payment. Genius oh genius. I really wish I was as old and wise as you.

    I feel better already.thanks bud.
