IMO what some folks lose sight of is that ICON and every other business out there has a business policy of how they handle returns for merchandise.

We as a consumer may not agree with a business returns policy but that will not change how that business is going to handle the situation.

To get upset at an employee who is doing their job by following their employers policy is out of line IMO.

That leaves consumers with 2 choices, follow that companies return policy and be taken care of or shop elsewhere but be prepared to get upset again when you go to return a item and have to follow another returns policy that may be even more to the consumers disliking.

Every business out there, in order to be successfull has to have a business model, and needs to follow it.

That being said giving the authority to a specific manager to make the call in certain situations to allow a return outside of SOP should be allowed and in a few cases is needed. But those situations would be rare occasions.

So in the end, just chill, relax, let the system work and worry about more serious things.

So, what you do is call them and politely ask that they send you the return label to send the damaged product back. When they receive it, they send out a replacement. That's how almost every vendor handles it. You aren't going to find a non-china based fleabay vendor that will send a replacement before getting the original item back.
Its a wheel, you can wait a couple weeks before putting the set on your truck so you can crawl the mall. Its an inconvenience and annoying but it is not the end of the world. You will get much further being polite than you will by being an ass.
If you MUST have the wheels on right away, buy another, send the damaged one back, and get the refund for the replacement.

Was it placed in the box that way, or did damage happen in transit? And not to sound like an ass here, but you realize the past two years haven’t been wonderful for companies, so they might be dealing with a lack of employees or lack of product, or one person doing the job of five. I ordered a dining room table in April ‘21, still waiting on it. It’s called we’re all in this together. And yelling at some woman on the phone won’t get you anywhere in life, other than bitching about the company on a forum, where there have obviously been other customers happy with their products.

Sorry to tell you this, but your dining room table was probably stolen off a train and burned in a barrel to keep some people warm, so you won't be receiving it anytime in the near future. We're all in this together though.

I’d ask them for a small partial refund and live with it. You’re gonna hit a rock one day or scratch it with a socket and beat a rim finish up WAY worse than that.

have they seen a picture of it?

sorry it’s definitely not a perfect product, but it’s not bad enough to slam their entire company over

They’ve been great for me

Maybe I’m just not picky enough but if I received the wheel in that picture I would March straight down…. To the tire shop and get it mounted and be on my way. :D

From what I see, it was blemmed in mfging and coated over. At least that's how it looks to me. Doesnt look like shipping blem.

I've been on the tacoma forum for about 6 years now and this is par for the course with Icon. I've seen enough horror stories of their customer service issues (and product issues) that'll never recommend them as a company. Except for their RXT leaf packs, they seemed to get those right.

To me, looks like it was dropped on the edge. Possibly after pulling it out of the box to see how they look.
To get damage like that in shipping, there would be very obvious damage to the box. Damage that should have been seen upon delivery and in most cases been cause to inspect the wheel prior to accepting.

IMO, if it was dropped after PC, there would have been chipping or some sort of blem to the PC. The PC appears issue free over the blem, which makes me believe damage was sustained prior to PC.

I feel like this could be even simpler: send him the return label, and when the damaged rim arrives, they send out a new rim. Pretty much zero risk for any funny business on anyone's end.

Sounds like they offered that. But by that point he already yelled at everyone in the company demanding a new wheel for free.

i own a business where i deal with the public and vendors every day. I don't mean to cause OP grief here but i'm also not going to sugarcoat this. The second a customer gets loud with me or my employees instead of rationally trying to reach an agreement they've removed 99% of my will to assist them to their benefit. Unfortunate you're having issue with a product and i'm certainly not defending Icon but things happen sometimes and losing control just exacerbates the issue.

If a company blows you off not once but twice, then you get told on the third attempt to get resolution that there's nothing they can do for you, 99% of us on here would've been upset. I've read posts where people freak out over creaks, groans, whistles, stickers not being centered, and asymmetrical installations that don't affect functionality.

I think it's easy to throw the stone but let's look to thine own eyes first.
