I'm just curious about the ripple effect years from now when people paid way over with these markups causing them to be underwater. This doesn't benefit anyone in the transaction in the long term.. meaning the buyer is underwater longer and can't trade into a dealer.. therefore the dealer probably won't be making as many sales. Essentially it's going to benefit them in the short term to pay bills now but sales in the future may be impacted at a greater level.

Dealers are just greedy fu*s with these adms.

IMO there won't be any real effect.

Most of the people paying over sticker will just pay off these cars eventually by making all their payments. And for those who trade in early and are underwater, for decades dealers have been experts at finding ways to finance that too (it just gets rolled onto the next loan).

For people who can no longer make their payments, that's what the repo man is for, and the banks will take write offs (but likely already made a profit with huge rates on these buyers).

For auto dealerships, the idea of repeat business is a joke, as even the most loyal buyer will only visit every few years, in which time the market changes, product changes, ownership of the dealership changes, buyers die/move away, etc. The only real exception to this is fleet sales. Dealers know their next sale is their last and they have to make as much money from each sale as possible.

This is like getting a misprint from the U.S. Mint, it's worth more. In this case they wrote Toyota backwards on the grill.

Who the fuck cares what anyone pays? I think some on here are flaming idiots because of how much they spend modifying their truck, but guess what? It’s their money.

If they were spending mine, then I have reason to bitch.

What’s even funnier is Toyota probably made more money off us 2nd genners than they’re making off the 3rd gen folks. Thinking you got some great deal paying 40-60k on a truck with 15 year old technology is laughable. Show me you’re jealous without actually telling me you’re jealous.

There isn't going to be a $69k TRD Pro, either. MSRP to MSRP is a valid comparison because both will have mark ups. All this talk of "you can't get a Raptor at MSRP!" is silly because you won't get a Pro at MSRP either.

    Absolutely true.

We won’t find any of them at MSRP this year.

That’s easy enough to solve. Just wait and drive what you’ve got folks. Not sure why this is so hard for people to understand. If you don’t want to pay dealer markup and it makes you mad, the easiest solution is to put that Toyota QDR to use and drive your current rig a few more years.

My dealer will do a pro at MSRP, Send me a message if anyone wants info. But my sales guy told me today they saying 8-10 months for delivery when someone places a tundras order. I bet Pro would be even longer wait.

This is very true. A breakdown of dealer costs does not reflect the actual amount paid by the dealer. Any dealer making their monthly quota gets an additional kickback discount on incoming vehicles for the next month. This is why most dealers will give you the best price at the very end of the month. Considering the fact there are hardly any vehicles on the lots, there is no mass production of vehicles, there is no kickback. Judging on units sold at MSRP, it could still amount to dealerships making less money on the car even though most people pay MSRP.

What exactly besides longer travel 12" suspension makes the Raptor far more off-road worthy?
    The raptor has:
Weaker Aluminum frame that commonly bends (I've jumped my 2.5gen dozens of times without a single problem except for the front skid plate clips coming off the plastic front bumper. 3rd gen is even stiffer)
    Less Power
    Weaker drive shaft
    Weaker transfer case
    Weaker ball joints
    Weaker A-arms
Weaker rear diff (Ford Sterling 9.75-inch vs 10.5-inch Toyota corporate)
37" kit vs 35" kit (You decide if that should cost $9k)

Has the Raptor ever won a Baja race?
"The winner of the Stock Full class in 2015 was the legendary Toyota racer Ivan "Ironman" Stewart. The Tundra TRD Pro won the stock class, and not for the first time. While the outside had some dents, the thing didn't have one single mechanical issue! It beat out the second-place Toyota Land Cruiser by a full hour and ten minutes. A close-by Ford Raptor and Hummer H1 had to drop out thanks to mechanical issues, while the TRD Pro only needed to change a tire."

Toyota overbuilds their vehicles and underrates their towing capacity because they are a very risk adverse company. Knowing the games the big three play to cheat on the SAE J2807 40mph towing test, how much do you trust their other specs?
When have you ever heard of a Tundra with a failing transmission? I'm not even going to ask about Ford.
Are you aware of how many engine replacements under warranty Raptors typically go through? Why would they need that if they're made for off-roading?
Do Australians trust American brands when going off-roading?

I guarantee I drive my Tundra harder than any Raptor, without a single mechanical failure to date. Would you trust a Raptor to go from 110mph to 0 at full braking without a single tire skidding or swerving around the lane? How about doing it 5 times in a row? Would you still trust your rotors and pads afterwards, in a Ford? How many Raptors can jump without bending their frame? Don't google that, it's embarrassing.
For the price of a 37" Raptor, I'd rather buy a TRX as that has a far stronger frame with a modest:rolleyes: power advantage. Not without the FIAT platinum warranty though, of course.

Again, no dog in this fight, but you're wrong. The 2022 raptor isn't on an aluminum frame. It's steel. The raptor is also on a reinforced frame beyond the normal F150 frame.

You jumped yours completely stock? Doubtful, but you can jump a raptor stock. Also, if a frame is too stiff/rigid it won't flex, and will instead bend.
Again, is your truck stock? The whole point of this thread is a stock TRD Pro for $70k next to a $70k stock Raptor. To that end, anything you've done with your truck is irrelevant. The new Tundra won't have anything but a badge in common with it.

I wouldn't buy the ne pro or the new raptor, and certainly not for 70 grand.

    Yes, 100% stock.
I've had an alignment long after and the frame wasn't bent.

Have you ever looked at all the bent frame Raptor videos? Or are you just not aware of this issue? The 3rd gen TNGA-F is stiffer, but not quite like a deuce n' a half truck.

So much for that reinforced steel frame(btw the front and rear are aluminum):

I'm not a fan of the price hike either. Which is why I'm keeping my 20. But I'm not going to deal with the headaches of owning a Ford just because they have fold flat seats that massage and a fold down center console.

I’m on the list for a Pro. Doubt I’ll do it but we’ll go take a look when the time comes. Dealer tells me to expect $70-75k. As of now they said they’re not doing a markup.

Put it in writing all you want, they will still go back on it if they want to. As many Ford Bronco reservation owners learned, it means absolutely nothing. You want to sue the dealership? Good luck with that, it will cost you more in the end and you will still not have a truck.

If you’re looking at a 2021 or 2020 pro with low miles you’re looking at $65k-$70k. So when you compare the 2022 price to that it doesn’t seem far off. I know it’s not apples to apples but a used one for a crazy high price is all you’ll be able to find at this point

There are some dealerships that base their ideals on reputation. A simple blast on social media calling out the dealership that did not honor a written agreement will cost that dealership some business.

For every purchase I made, I was begged by the dealership to give them a high rating on the survey that always follows. Reporting shady sales practices to the manufacturer does effect that dealership's reputation with them as well.

Exact reason I bought a ‘21 Pro was I understood it was possibly the last of a very proven product and it had all the tech (and power) I needed. I was on a list for 2 1/2 months and luckily the LR one dropped to me when the guy in front of me decided on the Super White that was delivered at the same time to the dealership…
I would have bought the Super White Pro without a doubt and it would have been great but the LR is just something so unique and different from everything else as the color turns from grey to green in different lighting. I look forward to driving my truck “worry free” everyday and I would suggest buying a ‘21 (if there are any left) over a ‘22 because of that - along with its overall good looks, the V8 and that sweet sounding dual exhaust.

I'm only responding so others get correct info. I've never cared about the Raptor or its issues, so I didn't know they had bent frame issues or that they used to have aluminum frames.

    Screenshot_20220204-103349_Samsung Internet.jpg

Got anything from this generation of Raptor having an aluminum frame? No, because they aren't aluminum anymore. Using the prior gen would be the same thing as accusing the new Tundra of terrible fuel mileage because the 2.5 gen was a gas hog. It's irrelevant and disingenuous.
