FELLAS! Fellas. Friends. Comrades. Pals.... The Pro grilles are on back order. National back order. There are hundreds of them on back order, and this thread is about that.

The manufacturer of the grilles have not shipped them to Toyota, and they can not give me an exact date as to when they will be made available. Every time I call Toyota, they tell me the same thing. "We're waiting on the manufacturer to ship them to us. Not real sure when that's going to happen."

Toyota updates me with a back order report that I receive every morning. Some of the grilles have an ETA attached to them, and some simply say "TBD" (to be determined). The black grilles, for whatever reason, are the ones that seem to be the most difficult for me to get. The black grilles are also the ones we have painted in various colors because this is the preferred color our painter chooses to paint over. He says it's the best for coverage and other reasons. So, if you ordered a black grille or are having a grille painted with us, which is a black one, it may be a while before you get your grille.

Other colors seem to be a little easier to get my hands on. Those still show to be trickling in between next week and the end of the month.

The ETAs that I have ARE NOT SET IN STONE. Toyota has changed the dates on me SEVERAL times. I've got over 100 of these things on order, and I'm trying my absolute best to get them in, and get them shipped out to you guys. There's just only so much I can do.

There is no telling when this back order situation will be over. So, if you're thinking of waiting it out to order a grille in, you may be waiting a while. You will also then go behind everyone else that has already placed an order, and it will take even longer. Best advice I can give: Just ride it out with me. I'm right there with you. :)

ALSO, some of you may notice the charge going through earlier than when the grille arrives. We use PayPal for all of our transactions, including credit card purchases, and PayPal only allows 29 days of an order being open. So, once the order becomes about 29 days old, we either have to finish the transaction, or PayPal will cancel the purchase and we have to start all over.

(This thread may or may not have something to do with the massive amount of phone calls, emails, and PMs I get every day about the Pro grille.)

    ***UPDATE***
The newest information I have on the release date is 9/18.

    ***UPDATE 2***
Some of the Pro grilles are starting to trickle in now, but they are very sporadic. I can not anticipate when more will come in, but we have received several shipments over the past week or two. No, we do not have any in stock. We are still filling orders from where people have already purchased the parts and are on the wait list. I do not see us having any for stock in quite a while. If you want a Pro grille, I would suggest placing an order so I can add you to the wait list.

    ***UPDATE 3***
Toyota has just pushed back the release date to the end of October. I'm still getting some in here and there, they just won't be readily available until then, or when they decide to change the date again.

    ***UPDATE 4***
I have started to receive some black Pro grilles, though not many have made it in. I have emailed everyone who is getting there's or those I have sent to the body shop for paint. Hopefully, Toyota keeps this up and sends me some more. The back order report looks like I will have a bunch coming in soon, but I don't put a lot of stock in that thing because Toyota has changed the dates so may times already.

FWIW, I ordered my Pro grill with another vendor back in February. After 10+ weeks of delayed ETAs, I canceled my order with them and ordered with @Roman. I had my grill in less than 3 weeks after that. For all I know, I could still be waiting for my grill to arrive from the other guy.

So frustrating. I'm sure even more so for you! Ordered from Sparks quite a while ago and they have been good about keeping me informed on status. However last update i got from them was September for my MGM! went with them because they had a great deal and they inspect grills before sending out. But September....i can't wait that long so i asked to be refunded. Who knows what will be out there in September.

They did at least put me on a list to be notified when available. I've probably pushed myself to the back of the line but $450 sitting out there doing nothing for me is a bit much to wait on.

It is very nice having guys like you and Sparks simplifying the order process for these TRD parts. Most dealership parts websites are not very consumer friendly.

It absolutely sucks. I'm over 100 grilles on order as of right now, and Toyota keeps shifting dates on me. It will get close to the ETA, and then I'll check the back order report only to see they were pushed back again. And they're not kind/smart enough to send me the grilles in waves. Oh no, they'll probably send me all eleventy billion of them on one truck on the same day. And it's not a quick shipping process either. We take each grille out, inspect them, wrap them in bubble wrap, box them up, add more packaging, and label them. It probably averages 15-20 minutes per grille to do it right.

Sorry for the thread-jacking but I figure this might help someone get a hold of one..

I'm in San Diego and willing to sell my black TRD Pro grille set (hood bulge, grille, and grille surround) to someone for $400 ..or $300 if you throw in a stock non-chrome grille set (don't care about the center portion really). No cosmetic damage. I just want to go a different direction. I've had it for about 5 months on my truck.

It won't come with the amber marker LEDs; they're just held on with sticky tape behind the grille.

Translation: If you have a Pro grille it's worth 5x more than you paid for it. Take it off, sell it, and wait for a new one to arrive.

I read somewhere they are being discontinued along with the the Pro. :notsure: Almost logical if they are no longer going to sell the pro. It would not surprise me.

Toyota has to maintain replacement parts for vehicles they sell for at least 10 years. The Pro grilles definitely aren't going anywhere. :)

I have heard that, and good to hear! Does that also apply to TRD Rock Warrior wheels that were discontinued?

Yes, it does. Toyota may "discontinue" parts as far as adding them to the trucks as accessories, but if they came on the vehicle, they have to have reserves or still be able to produce them. They will "manually control" parts such as these, to where the dealer ordering them must prove that they were original equipment on the vehicle AND show pictures of the damaged part they are replacing. They do this so no one can try and trick the system and add them to their vehicle if it did not come with them from the factory.

Alright, I just got back in from the vacation, and found out while I was gone that the grilles have all been pushed back to the middle of September, even though our daily back order report is saying sooner than that. One of the guys spoke with Toyota while I was gone, and that is the news as of right now.

Roman, thank you for the update, that is unfortunate news. How do we go about getting a refund to our CC if we want to cancel? I ordered mine 9 weeks ago today and do not want to wait another 90 days.

    Thank you!

I can definitely do that, if you want.

If anybody wants to cancel, just shoot me a PM with your order number, and let me know that you're wanting to cancel. I've got quite a waiting list, so I'm sure the guy behind you will appreciate the bump up in the line. :D

If one wanted to get in line, should we just place an order, or is it best to just wait?

    Thanks!

That would be a great idea, But what about the painted front bumper ends for the Pros? It still blows my mind that those pieces cannot be purchased direct from Toyota painted. Being that they are OEM parts.

This is not good news. Both discontinuing the Pro and availability of the grills. I planned to buy in January 2018 and swap out the grill if I could not get a Pro. Looks like I will have to strongly consider the Chevy with color matched bumpers and front end. I hate the chrome on the front of the Tundra.

I always tell people to get their spot in line and wait it out. The longer you wait, the longer it's going to be before you get the grille, but it's completely up to you.

No bumper at all comes painted from Toyota. The bumper ends are lumped in with the rest of the bumpers Toyota produces. Camrys, Corollas, Highlanders, etc. all have unpainted bumpers from the factory when ordering them as replacement parts. It's no different than a fender, or a quarter panel, or a tail gate, or a hood. And it's the same through every car manufacturer. No one wants to chance paint becoming damaged on body parts such as these from the time they are painted at the factory, through shipping to the distribution centers and put in inventory, to being pulled and shipped to the dealers and put in inventory, to being pulled and shipped to a body shop/customer. The damage returns would be astronomical.

It definitely isn't good news. I know it sucks for you guys, but everybody here only has one on back order. I have 120+ on back order, so it REALLY sucks for me. :D

BUT, if you're worried about Toyota no longer producing these, I wouldn't worry too much. They have to AT LEAST produce the part as a replacement part for 10 years from the time they stop producing the truck.
